#ApacheMaven is working on version 4, but the venerable version 3.x series rarely (never?) has issues with new #JDK versions (since #Maven doesn't use #ASM or other #bytecode manipulation). Popular Maven plugins could have issues, especially if they are not 'core' plugins. #Java #OpenSource

Now is the time that lower level #Java libraries and tools need to be preparing #JDK22 (byte)code compatibility. #OW2's ASM 9.6 is already there and so is #ByteBuddy. Even #ApacheGroovy 4.0 and 5 alpha look ready. As for build tools ... well ... #Java #OpenSource

@fosstodon @kev @mike: I don't know if you are aware of this already or not, but the #Fosstodon servers all get a B rating from #Qualys #SSLLabs SSL Test here: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=fosstodon.org Most other Mastodon servers I have checked get an A+ or at least an A. It looks like you should consider disabling #TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols to get a better rating. #InfoSec #Security

@lprimak @[email protected] I completely agree with you on identifying the weakest link in the chain. OW2 has done a an absolutely amazing job with ASM being out in front of new #JDK versions. @ApacheGroovy has also done quite well keeping up. To #Gradle's credit, the gap between #JDK20 and Gradle 8.1 was smaller, but the gap could be smaller yet. The shift to #Kotlin may make this whole discussion less relevant in the future, but probably not for a couple years.
