Start with nothing. End with a secured Jakarta EE app. And live-code everything in between. 👨💻
At #BaselOne26, @hannotify builds a RESTful app from scratch, secures it with JWT and connects an Angular frontend.
JAX-RS, JPA, #MicroProfile, OpenAPI – with as much live coding as possible. And if things go wrong along the way? That’s part of the game. 😉
👉 Full programme: https://baselone.org/#programm

Open Liberty's Maven documentation has all the pieces. The end-to-end path is spread across plugin goals, dev mode, feature installation, and packaging.
I connected and validated that path with Java 21 and Jakarta REST 4.0: hot reload, Failsafe against a real server, a clean CI build, and a runnable JAR.

LangChain4j CDI 1.3.1 released -- simpler Human-in-the-Loop agents, @RegisterSimpleAgent alignment, nested scope fix, new WildFly example, and LangChain4j 1.15.1. AI + Jakarta EE keeps getting better! #Java #AI #JakartaEE #OpenSource #langchain4j
-
Tired of stitching #AI SDKs into your #JakartaEE stack manually? #LangChain4J-CDI lets you declare an interface, annotate it, & inject it anywhere — REST, EJB, schedulers. @EliteGentleman demonstrates the model-driven approach.
Worth a closer look? Read: https://javapro.io/2026/02/25/bring-ai-into-your-jakarta-ee-apps-with-langchain4j-cdi-formerly-smallrye-llm/

🚀 langchain4j-cdi 1.2.0 is out!
🤖 @RegisterAgent: 8 agentic topologies (SIMPLE→A2A)
🔌 MCP Server support for CDI beans
⚡ ${config} & #{EL} expressions in annotations
All CDI-native, enterprise-ready.
Thanks to @yblazart.bsky.social , Buhake Sindi and Don Bourne

MicroProfile is not about annotations.
It’s about contracts.In this hands-on guide, I build a book-catalog microservice with:
• MicroProfile Config
• Health (live + ready)
• Fault Tolerance (timeout, retry, circuit breaker)
• JWT securityAll on Open Liberty.
No vendor APIs in business code.Production behavior included. Not just “it works locally.”

There has been some interesting discussion on #JakartaEE 11 and #Java servers over on Twitter. The draft of the spec has been updated to require JDK 17 rather than requiring JDK 21. I agree with the decision. To maximize adoption, JakartaEE must support JDK 17 and optionally JDK 21. Dropping JDK 11 is the best we can hope for right now.

This is big news for #OpenLiberty users: https://openliberty.io/blog/2023/04/04/23.0.0.3.html OpenLiberty 23.0.0.3 is a STABLE release with #JakartaEE 10 support (all profiles) and #MicroProfile 6. Also, it support up to #JDK 20. Thanks to @emilyjiang and any other OpenLiberty developers at #IBM out there. #Java #JavaEE #OpenSource
-
If you want full support of #JakartaEE 10 from #OpenLiberty you can get it in version 23.0.0.1, but that is still in beta (for now). See this blog for details: https://openliberty.io/blog/2023/01/03/23.0.0.1-beta.html #IBM #Java #JavaEE
-
@javajuneau Two of my favorites. I hear the beta of #OpenLiberty fully implements all #JakartaEE 10 as well.
-
It seems like @emilyjiang is the only #OpenLiberty #IBM engineer here. The only one I have found so far. No #OpenJ9 devs either. Someone prove me wrong (again). #Java #JakartaEE #JavaEE

On the #JakartaEE / #JavaEE server front, my preference now tends to be for either #WildFly or #OpenLiberty. #GlassFish may be ok too, but I have actually seen the #Payara folks kind of unselling it a bit. Payara has really moved much more strongly to an #opencore model. I've seen some features pulled from Payara Community Edition in the last couple years (gives me bad vibes). #opensource

Where are all my #Java #JavaEE #JakartaEE peeps at? I am looking for you #WildFly and #OpenLiberty developers.
