⦵ #Transport for #London has published a draft #Business Plan setting out its priorities to 2029/30, focused on improving public transport, supporting growth and making the capital greener and more accessible. The plan includes sustained investment in core infrastructure, new trains for the Piccadilly line and #DLR, a refurbished Central line fleet, more Elizabeth line services and replacement trams. It proposes extending the DLR to Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead, expanding the #Superloop bus network, increasing bus priority and accelerating the move to a fully zero-emission bus fleet. #TfL also plans major upgrades to streets and traffic management to cut congestion, continued investment in cycling and road safety, and more step-free stations. The request highlighted the popularity of the Superloop network and noted that Bluewater is located outside Greater London, raising questions about cross-boundary funding with Kent authorities. In its response, TfL said it holds the relevant information and stated clearly that no Superloop service to Bluewater is planned.

#TfL has responded to a request regarding the SL6 #Superloop service. The service currently operates limited hours, and TfL has no plans to expand or trial a full-time service. Only one other request for a full-time service was received in 2025. Latest ridership data for 2024–25 is published online. In 2025, TfL recorded 149 customer contacts about the route, with the main concerns being driver behaviour—refusals to pick up or open doors—and service reliability, including delays and gaps. SL6 buses maintained an average speed of 8.19–8.77 mph, showing stable performance across the year. Minor complaints included vehicle layout, temperature, cleanliness, and signage.

#Transport for #London Bus service changes
From Saturday 24 January 2026, a new #Superloop route SL11 will operate between North Greenwich Bus Station and Abbey Wood Station via Woolwich town centre. SL11 will call only at designated stops along the route and be operated by Go Ahead with double-deck #buses. Services run every 6–12 minutes during the day and until midnight, with the first bus at 0458 from Abbey Wood and 0500 from North Greenwich. Route 472 will be withdrawn and replaced by SL11, with a new night service N472 running every 30 minutes. Passengers needing stops no longer served by SL11 can use other local routes and the £1.75 Hopper fare for transfers.

#TfL is consulting on proposals for a new #Superloop express bus route, SL13, linking Hendon War Memorial to Ealing Broadway (Haven Green), with limited stops at key locations. To support this, route E7 would be extended to Ealing Common via Uxbridge Road, no longer serving Haven Green. SL13 would run every 12–15 mins from 05:00 to 00:30 daily, using double-deckers with modern facilities. The route aims to improve journey times and increase capacity between Hendon and Ealing. If introduced, frequencies on routes E7, 112, and 232 may be adjusted. TfL seeks feedback on route, stops, and bus stand changes. The E7 change would affect around 400 passengers daily, requiring a short walk to alternative stops.

Arriva Group has completed a £17m electrification project at its Norwood depot in South #London. The upgraded facility will support 30 new zero-emission Enviro400EV double deckers on key #TfL routes, including a new #Superloop line linking London’s suburbs with the city centre. Delivered with Zenobē, the project includes 15 smart chargers and power upgrades, supporting the Mayor’s goal for a zero-emission bus fleet by 2030. Arriva’s Zero Emission Institute (ZEI) contributed knowledge and expertise, with learnings shared across European operations. This initiative is part of Arriva’s wider electrification programme in London depots including Croydon, Enfield, and Tottenham. Alexander Dennis supplied the buses, each covered by a 14-year battery warranty and equipped with AD Connect telematics. The investment highlights Arriva’s commitment to clean, reliable public transport and ongoing collaboration with PTAs to deliver sustainable urban mobility.

Bayer, a bus company based in #Ehingen, #Germany, is expanding its e-mobility efforts by adding five all-electric Mercedes-Benz eCitaro buses to its fleet. The 12-metre-long buses, each with 36 seats, are powered by third-generation NMC3 lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 589 kWh. Additionally, Bayer received two 18-metre Citaro G articulated buses with 48 seats and two folding seats. Delivered at Daimler Buses’ Neu-Ulm centre, these new additions support environmentally friendly public transport in the region. The buses are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including Frontguard Assist, which helps detect nearby pedestrians and prevent collisions. Managing partner Sonja Bayer calls this a major step in shaping sustainable local #transport. The company has also installed its own charging infrastructure to support efficient operation across routes in the Ehingen area of southern Germany.

#Transport for #London has awarded Indra Group a new seven-year contract to operate and develop its revenue collection systems, including Oyster and #contactless #ticketing, with options to extend the deal. Indra will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and expansion of the system, as well as managing the Oyster retail network. More than 90 per cent of Tube and bus journeys are now paid for using Oyster or contactless, with pay as you go contactless set to expand to more stations across the southeast by 2026. The contract also includes plans to modernise the 20-year-old Oyster system, potentially introducing account-based ticketing and new digital features. Indra will work with #TfL and partners to ensure a smooth transition from current operator Cubic, with some staff transferring. The contract is valued at £587.6 million and began on 15 January 2026.

The #Financial Conduct Authority is planning changes that would give #banks and payment providers greater flexibility to set contactless payment limits. Firms with strong fraud controls would be able to set their own limits, respond to inflation and new #technology, and offer customers more choice, including the option to set personal limits or turn contactless off. #Contactless payments continue to grow, with nearly 95% of eligible in-store card transactions made this way in 2024. Existing consumer protections will remain, including reimbursement for unauthorised transactions. The FCA says the changes aim to support convenience, choice and innovation while maintaining security. The new rules will take effect from March 2026, though most firms are expected to keep current limits initially.
