    Pontoon Dock #DLR station will undergo a £43.9m upgrade led by #Transport for #London to improve capacity and accessibility in response to rising demand. Funded by #TfL, #Homes #England, the GLA and developer Lendlease, the project includes six new escalators, a larger mezzanine level, and improved public space with potential for new retail. The station, elevated 13 metres, currently relies heavily on lifts, causing congestion. Upgrades will ease queuing and improve step-free access. Supporting the wider #Silvertown Quays regeneration, the works will help unlock 6,500 homes and 10,000 jobs. Construction begins in summer 2026 and completes by the end of 2028, with the station remaining open throughout.

    Interesting that there are toll exemptions for holders. I wonder how they'll manage that, given that the badge is for a *person*, not a vehicle. You can have a badge without even being able to drive, you can use it in any car you are traveling in - your partner's vehicle, your parents' or your childrens' vehicles, a friend or neighbour's vehicle, a hire car, ... bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c33zdz

    #Transport for #London (#TfL) has announced a new free Cycle Shuttle service through the #Silvertown Tunnel, starting on 7 April 2025. Running every 12 minutes from 06:30 to 21:30, the zero-emission shuttle will connect Silvertown and North Greenwich. It will carry a variety of #cycles, including standard, #tricycles, and cargo #bikes, with two stops: Seagull Lane and Millennium Way. The service will not be available to pedestrians. #Buses will have dedicated cycle bays and step-free access, and will allow e-bikes and hire bikes. This initiative aims to improve cross-river connectivity and promote active travel. The service will be free for at least one year. The Silvertown Tunnel also introduces a user charge for vehicles, with concessions for residents and discounts for low-income households.
