  1. What an absolutely glorious morning walking from Dingwall this morning. Cold, with lots of ice and snow but a clear sky with a golden winter sun climbing over the Black Isle.

I was delighted to have caught the sunlight on the river Conon/Cromarty Firth in the middle of the photo.

  2. A local local view for today’s wintery Scotland shot. Ben Wyvis from the Carse of Bayfield. A bit of calm for your frantic maybe. A bit skewed, I note, but I was too lazy to change it. I very rarely fiddle with photos post shot. Straightening might have been good in this case, however. 🙄 #NotAPro #Scotland #ScottishHighlands #CromartyFirth #EasterRoss #BenWyvis #ScotlandPhotography #PhotoOfTheDay #NoFilter #Stubble #Haystack #Mountain #SnowontheMountain

  3. Good morning everyone. How’s your Friday shaping up? Early here as you can tell. I promised Nigg Beach, until the weekend. It wasn’t a lie, but I found this instead - Cromarty Firth sunset from the North Sutor ( my ‘home hill’) For context, Nigg Beach IS bottom right. #scotland #ScottishHighlands #easterrosspeninsula #FearnPeninsula #EasterRoss #cromartyfirth #northsutor #castlecraigfarm #cromarty #sunset #ScotlandPhotography #photooftheday #NoFilters

  4. Hype for the Future 73D: L’Anse aux Meadows

Introduction The Vikings and the associated settlements, though largely identified as having originated within the region now known as Northern Europe and Scandinavia, have since expanded from the modern nations of Norway and Sweden east into Finland and Russia, though only barely so, but more importantly, south and west into Denmark, Scotland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, and, finally, Newfoundland. 8. There’s an Indian restaurant in Portree. Our love as a nation for food from the subcontinent is great. When it first arrived here it was a delicacy too expensive for ordinary people. Indian recipes first appeared in Scottish recipe books in the late 18th C. Well-travelled Scots brought recipes back from trips to India, including the Barkly of Mount Eagle family from Ross and Cromarty. Their 1820s recipe book contains recipes for chicken curry, curried soups and curry powder.

  10. Today, we mainly hiked through farmland to explore the iron age fort of Knockfarrel, a fantastic viewpoint overlooking Dingwall and the Cromarty Firth. It was a fairly easy hike (8 miles, 13 km) with only one steeper section, but we really enjoyed it. #hiking #schottland #scotland #Dingwall

  12. Thanks to everyone who reblogged my photo yesterday. Most kind & unexpected. I’ve taken so many photos of my local beach, I thought I’d share a few more. It still amazes me how the same place can look and feel so different depending on the time of day, time of year, the weather, the light. I guess we’re all just trying to capture light in some way. Nigg Brach again then, in a different light. #scotland #ScottishHighlands #nofilter #ScotlandPhotography #photooftheday #NiggBeach #CromartyFirth
