@adrianww @LaChasseuse @peterbrown @Alternatecelt @Wen a properly defined and managed National Park might well do that, but we don't have those in the UK. Instead, we have zones set up to undermine democratic planning systems and to allow large landowners to evade #LandReform laws.

@Wen @adrianww @Alternatecelt @peterbrown @LaChasseuse @ScottishGreens I think a lot of people felt the SNP had made a mess of too many things, not least #ScottishIndependence. No local government reform, no local tax reform, no effective #LandReform, too little progress on #Climate and on #JustTransition, too little improvement on education, and some real missteps on industrial policy, although that had been difficult.

@Alternatecelt @adrianww @peterbrown @LaChasseuse @Wen Galloway needs democratic accountability, which Dumfries and Galloway Council is much too large, and much too under-resourced, to provide.
Scotland, generally, needs both local government reform -- we don't currently have any local government -- and in particular local government finance reform (which tinkering with #CouncilTax rates will not do); but to do that we need to get oligarchic power out of local politics, and that, too, is hard.
