It is intriguing that an MSP needs multiple MPs from #Labour Central to be able to stand for leadership, but fossiking around in what is publicly available, MSPs or MS (Wales) are not required the other way around.
Come on MSPs - read the writing on the wall, you (and we) are toast if London gets its chance. Change things unless you want to be London lackeys all your political life (and don't aspire to a place in the HOL)

@RaffKarva @spytfyre Legally, #Holyrood cannot declare #UDI at all. No Unilateral Declaration of Independence in history has ever been legal. It is not a legal action.
That does not mean it cannot be done.
But it will succeed only if it is backed by sufficient popular support that the country would be ungovernable by the colonial power.

The good news is the smell of smoke that woke me isn’t my flat on fire.
The bad news:

4/yo fundraiser met the King & got tour around #Holyrood, thoroughly enjoying the totally unforgettable experience
For official opening of new session of parliament, each #MSP brings along a “local hero” - someone who made positive contribution to their community
Gregor was born with #neurological condition affecting his balance, motor skills
His #fundraising challenge brought massive windfall for #Inclusive #Orkney.

@christia_allard naturally and of course, the #SNP has not organised any show of public support for this vote, or arranged anything for the television cameras to film. Fortunately, the #YesMovement has.
Supporters of #ScottishIndependence should assemble at #Holyrood between 18:30 and 19:30 this evening, with saltires for #OperationHingAboot2!

Salmon farms generate export income and support jobs ( a relatively limited number), but just a reminder that they are bad. Bad for the animals and bad for the environment (with pollution and escapees being implicated fin the decline in our wild fish)

Right, I've put a spreadsheet of #Holyrood election data up here that I've reverse engineered from Wikipedia data. It's not perfect but at least it does give numbers to do some analysis from. Feel free to use it in any way you like; but if anyone has a better spreadsheet, I would be really grateful.

@naefool @Cyclist The BBC's ScotPod were suggesting not-very-seriously last night that he might stand in either Stephen Flynn's or Stephen Gethins' seat; and I was thinking that if he did that and promised, if elected leader, to transfer power to hold #IndyRef2 to #Holyrood, it might well be a good thing all round.

Thomas Kerr rages as #Holyrood parties refuse to work with #ReformUK
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, First Minister John #Swinney said he would not be inviting #Reform UK to talks at the #Scottish Government headquarters in St Andrew’s house.

Well that's the news I've been waiting for. @lornaslater has taken Edinburgh Central for @ScottishGreens. I'm very pleased; she's the only genuinely inspirational member of #Holyrood in this generation, in my opinion.
Hopefully a future #FirstMinister.
Also, although Angus Robertson would make a fine ambassador for Scotland, we do not need yet another machine politician.

This wouldn’t be the worst outcome given some of the alternatives. #scotpol #elections #scotland #holyrood

#YouGov's final MRP of the 2026 #Holyrood election shows the #SNP falling short of a majority, but on course for a fifth term in office. #ScottishGreens are surging, but #SLAB #ScottishLabour is in deep trouble.
SNP: 62 seats (-5 from 23 Mar-8 Apr)
Ref: 19 (-1)
Lab: 17 (+2)
Grn: 16 (+5)

An roghainn as fheàrr do dh'Alba Diardaoin. Ceum air adhart agus slaic do Reform an-seo.
The best choice for Scotland this Thursday. A progressive move and keeps Reform/Trump/ Putin from power here.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/apr/27/john-swinney-referendum-powers-scottish-elections-snp. "The #Scottish #National #Party leader’s senior adviser indicated that if necessary, he would rely on support from the pro-independence Scottish #Greens to win that vote in order to demand the UK #Government gives #Holyrood the #legal #powers to hold a second [independence] #referendum."

There's Martyn Day, #SNP, here, saying we need more members in #Holyrood . But actually, the overwhelming majority of policy is local, and what isn't local, until we win #ScottishIndependence, is mostly reserved to #Westminster. All Holyrood needs to do is reform local government, and then campaign for independence.

We're less than a fortnight away from the Scottish Parliament elections.
While an SNP overall majority is possible, I don't think it's the most likely outcome. It will mostly come down to the constituencies, and many of those are simply too close to call. If they do break the SNP's way, any majority could happen on a 30% vote share. So much for proportional representation.

Two of the three nations in the United Kingdom are having General Elections the week after next, and the #Westminster village describes it as 'the locals'.

New polling for the Holyrood elections.
No offence to SNP voters, but the large number voting SNP on the list vote suggests they're a bit thick - aside from Highlands, the large number of SNP list votes produces no more SNP MSPs and probably lets Reform in!
It's distributing to see Reform doing so well. I hope there's tactical voting from Labour, Greens and LibDems to keep Reform out of the two constituency seats they're set to gain!
