Just stumbled across a preview for #MastersOfAlbion, the new #godgame from Peter #Molyneux and #22Cans. It mixes #citybuilder, #towerdefense and god game mechanics, very much in the spirit of #BlackAndWhite and #Fable. Currently in #EarlyAccess on #Steam.
#BlackAndWhite was one of my favourite games ever, and even though Molyneux does not always fully deliver on his promises, he remains one of the most important and visionary people in #gamedesign. That alone makes this worth watching.
The preview is pretty honest though: #AI is dumb, lightning powers miss constantly, towers barely shoot, and the interface is clunky.
Promising but clearly unfinished. Watching from a distance for now.

BTW it was the Call of Cthulhu adventure "The Lightless Beacon", most of the adventure happens on Beacon Island. DM threatened to create one more enemy for everytime one of us mispronounces it as Bacon Island instead of Beacon Island

What An Amazing Accident
Your body contains about 37.2 trillion cells. Each cell works together to form some body system. There are skin cells, and liver cells, and heart cells, and blood cells, and, well, you get the picture. Amazingly, each one of those body systems works together to form the human body. Our hearts work in tandem with our kidneys (and others) to do so many things. The kidneys collect excess water and waste and excrete it (I’ll let you guess how), keeping the body with a stable water to salt ratio. Your kidneys and other organs also send out different chemicals to either raise or lower your blood pressure. And all this has been happening while you’ve been reading the last sentence. What an amazing accident.
Did you know that your heart runs on electricity? Did you know that every single cell in the heart can generate an electrical impulse? One of the major nodes in the heart fires an electrical impulse that causes the top of the heart to contract, and then travels to a second node that fires to cause the bottom of the heart to contract. Within your heart there are four chambers that take blood and either send it towards the lungs to pick up oxygen, or away from the lungs to send to the body. About 2,000 liters of blood travel through the heart each day, although its really just the same five liters, sending oxygenated blood to all of the organs, keeping each organ alive. What an amazing accident.
Have you considered your eyes? Your eyes literally capture light that are then converted into electrical signals that your brain can understand as an image. Your eyes can focus in on objects, can let in more or less light, and can detect colors. We are able to discern depths and heights. In tandem with our other senses, we can catch a ball, and jump over things, and drive cars. We have little covers that shade the eyes when its too bright and protect them from dust and other irritants. We have eyelashes and eyebrows that keep out dirt and work like reflexive whiskers to tell us to close our eyes. We even have a built in moisturizer and drainage system that self cleans the eyes. What an amazing accident.
I love to look into the human body. I am amazed, not that things work, but that we aren’t perpetually broken. G. K. Chesterton once said, “The most poetical thing in the world is not being sick.” No. I can’t believe that we are just cosmic accidents. We are far too complex and fragile to be things of chance. We were designed, and my soul knows it very well. For just one of these body systems to work would be amazing. For all of them to work is a miracle. Our bodies are like beacons that point to our Creator. Take a look more closely in the mirror today and marvel at God’s amazing design.

I keep helping jim proofread docs. Now if only he’d get some released so I could point people at them.
Two sequels to Odin’s Eye are coming. That’s probably the best Praxis game to start with.
The first one is the crew of the Odin’s Eye investigated a mysterious signal in space.
The second one is the crew of Thor’s Hammer finds a mysterious Gate of Light.
