About 3 months ago my #motorcycle started acting up on a trip to the south. Just when I was going to pass a RV it began to stutter on acceleration. I was on an almost empty tank on a pretty hot day.
I thought I was out of fuel but made it to the petrol station. Yet, even with fresh fuel the problem did not go away.
After doing some research on the web I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump without even checking it because in my head (biased by web forums) this seemed to be the most logical solution (overheated fuel pump and clogged filter). Though, the problem still persisted.
Then I checked the stator and found that it was shorted on all three phases (wtf?!) so I replaced it.
Now the stuttering was gone but it still was hesitant/sluggish on acceleration.
I cleaned the air filter but that did not help either.
A friend recommended replacing the coils and while replacing them, I noticed that the vacuum tubes from the air filter box to the throttle body had gone brittle.
After having replaced the tubes, the bike seems to run smooth again now.
It took me two moths to figure that out and I spent more money than I needed to, but on the other hand I've got a working fuel pump and (most likely working) coils on the shelf and I learned a lot again.
And morale of the story: Confirm your assumptions before doing (unnecessary) replacements.
The season is almost over but if the temperatures do not drop below 5 degrees next week, I plan to go on my presumably last #motocamping trip for this season and will find out if the #motorbike really is healthy again. -

🛠️ Tool: User Scanner
===================Opening: User Scanner is an OSINT suite designed for email and username intelligence. It enables investigators to map digital footprints, verify account registrations, and analyze target behavior across a wide array of platforms. The tool consolidates two primary reconnaissance functions into a single application, aiming to streamline the initial phases of an investigation where an analyst only possesses a single data point like an email address or a username.
Key Features:
• 2720+ total scan vectors.
• 210+ email-integrated sites.
• 2510+ username platforms.
• Metadata extraction for usernames.
• Cross-platform account verification.
• Behavior and interest analysis based on platform presence.Technical Implementation:
The tool operates as a 2-in-1 suite, running scans across its integrated database of sites. It relies on direct queries to these platforms to verify account existence and extract metadata. Being compatible with Termux allows for mobile reconnaissance, which can be useful for field operations or quick checks without requiring a full workstation setup. The architecture likely involves parallel requests to optimize scan time across the 2720+ vectors.Use Cases:
• Mapping a target's digital footprint across social media and forums.
• Verifying if a specific email address is registered on a given platform.
• Extracting metadata associated with usernames to uncover interests or behavioral patterns.
• Correlating an email address with usernames across different platforms to establish identity links.
• Conducting quick checks in the field using Termux on a mobile device.Installation/Setup:
Basic deployment involves cloning the repository and running the tool in a supported environment (Termux, Windows, or Linux). Specific dependency instructions are available in the repository documentation.Limitations:
Like all enumeration tools, User Scanner relies on the availability and response of third-party sites. Rate limiting, false positives, or changes to site APIs can impact scan accuracy. Furthermore, the presence of an account does not inherently confirm active use or ownership without additional contextual verification. The tool's current version is 1.5.2.1.References:

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC
229 AM EDT Sat Oct 3 2026WHAT HAS CHANGED
Temperatures have trended slightly downward for today and thunderstorm chances increased. The overall rainfall amounts for the event have trended downward.
Updated the aviation discussion for the 06Z TAF issuance.
KEY MESSAGES
1. Showers and thunderstorms will become numerous this afternoon and evening along and ahead of a front dropping down from the north, followed by widespread rain overnight and again Sunday afternoon and evening. The combination of events will raise the threat for excessive rainfall that could result in some localized flooding through Sunday night. 2. Dry from Monday afternoon onward. Cool temperatures return for the middle of next week, followed by a steady warmup late in the week.
DISCUSSION
Key message 1: Showers and thunderstorms will become numerous this afternoon and evening along and ahead of a front dropping down from the north, followed by widespread rain overnight and again Sunday afternoon and evening. The combination of events will raise the threat for excessive rainfall that could result in some localized flooding through Sunday night.
A complex rainfall scenario is expected to develop across the forecast area through the weekend with several factors to consider, the combination of which could become favorable for excessive rain and increased flooding risk. Fortunately, we begin the event on a recent dry streak.
The initial, more convective, phase should develop this afternoon as a cold front currently laid out across the TN Valley/Mid-Atlantic gets driven southward in back-door fashion by a sfc high moving east from the Great Lakes to New England today. The front will probably not reach the fcst area until the afternoon, such that at least the southern half of the forecast area should be able to warm up into the lower 80s and destabilize with up to 1500 J/kg of sfc-based CAPE in a warm advection flow. By afternoon, the back door front will impinge upon this light SW low level flow and should trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms. Heavy rain looks like the biggest threat from this initial round of activity as the warm advection flow lifts a remnant plume of deeper sub-tropical moisture northward into the Upstate/Piedmont. Precipitable water should rise above 2 inches in this plume, up near the climatological maximum. The concern is that the opposing NE flow behind the backdoor front and the SW flow at 850 mb could result in an effective slow storm movement at some point this evening in some location, probably east of the mtns. The 00Z HREF shows some 6-hr rainfall potential above 2 inches. This might not be enough to cause flooding outside of urban areas, but it could set the stage for flooding in the second round. However, if the frontal boundary should stall, flood problems will ramp up overnight. The threat for severe storms through Saturday night appears relatively low owing to poor lapse rates.
Behind the front, a cold air damming wedge will set up east of the Blue Ridge and will persist through Sunday with temperatures remaining in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Most of the CAMs suggest something of a lull in the action Sunday morning before deeper and better forcing arrive ahead of a shearing short wave moving in from the west in the afternoon. This second phase will be more dynamically forced and will have the potential to produce another inch or two of rain in some spots. Locations that get heavy rain in both phases could see flooding issues. That being said, there is too much uncertainty regarding what locations have the best potential, and the overall QPF has trended downward on this forecast cycle. Thus, a Flood Watch was not entertained…

Tool Steels by Yu. Geller
This is a fundamental and comprehensive reference book on tool steels.
It discusses in great detail the composition and properties of numerous grades of tool steels manufactured in the USSR and other countries for making cutting tools, hot- and cold-forming dies, measuring instruments, surgical tools, etc.
The first Russian edition of the book was published in 1945. Since then, it has undergone four revised and renewed editions (1955, 1961, 1968, and 1975), each updated by the author to reflect advancements in the field. Recommended as a textbook for higher education students and a reference book for engineers, this work has established itself as an invaluable resource.
The present English edition has been specially prepared by the author to include the latest materials published in the USSR and other countries since the last Russian edition.
The late Prof. Yu. A. Geller, Dr. Sc. (Eng.), was a prominent specialist in the field of materials science. For over 20 years, he served as the Head of the Chair of Materials Science and Heat Treatment of Metals at the Moscow Institute of Machine Tools. His teaching and research career in the field spanned more than 40 years.
Prof. Geller’s published works include approximately 280 articles and eight monographs and textbooks. Among his notable works is The Science of Materials (co-authored with Prof. A. G. Rakhstadt), which was recently translated into English by Mir Publishers. Many of his articles were published internationally, including in the USA, Great Britain, France, and other countries.

Future of Home Robotics: Analysis & Projections1. Transcript Recap
Figure’s home robot testing revealed striking contrasts between capability and real-world performance. The humanoid robot achieved a 56% success rate across three domestic tasks in 30 rented homes: toy collection (40%), towel folding (62%), and bed-making (67%). This benchmark is significant—it represents one of the first large-scale trials testing humanoids in unfamiliar residential environments without pre-adaptation or fine-tuning.
The most compelling finding was the 8% to 56% performance leap when the robot received prior exposure to human video data through Figure’s Index app, which crowdsourced over 16 million hours of domestic activity footage. Without this foundation, performance plummeted; with it, the robot demonstrated meaningful generalization. This validates the industry’s “scaling laws” hypothesis: more diverse, high-quality human demonstration data dramatically improves real-world capability.
Several critical caveats emerged. The test involved only three short tasks—no multi-step sequences or long-term maintenance. The 30 homes were rented specifically for testing, with human observers present, not for permanent deployment. Scoring standards were forgiving (sloppy folds still passed), and the success rate reflects task completion rather than perfection.
The industry context is equally important. Competitors face similar challenges: Unitree targets 80% domestic task success within years but currently operates at lower benchmarks; iRobot’s bankruptcy demonstrates market volatility; Tesla’s Optimus remains uncommercialized despite massive investment. Safety concerns persist—Figure’s former safety chief alleged strike forces exceeding human skull fracture thresholds and refrigerator dents during malfunctions, though Figure disputes these claims.
2. Research Reports on AI Home Robots (2024–2026)
Market Forecasts: The home humanoid robot market was valued at $4.83B in 2025, projected to grow to $25B by 2035 at a 17.9% CAGR. Key drivers include aging demographics, smart home integration demand, and eldercare needs.
Scaling Laws: Comprehensive studies (meta-analysis of 327 papers) confirm power-law relationships between data size, model scale, and performance. Notably, robotics models show faster scaling than language tasks, with error rates dropping predictably as human demonstration data increases. Pretraining is more compute-efficient than fine-tuning.
Competitive Landscape: The market features dilute competition among ~15 players: Figure (US), Unitree (China), iRobot (bankrupt), SoftBank/Toyota partnership, Samsung, Honda, Nuro, Anki, Furhat Robotics, and Weave (wheeled domestic assistants). China dominates both industrial robotics (>57% market share in 2024) and is leading humanoid development.
Regulatory Gap: No unified global standards exist for embodied AI safety, liability, or testing protocols—creating a regulatory vacuum where companies operate without clear compliance frameworks.
3. How AI Home Robots Will Advance Average People’s Lives
Task Automation Beyond Vacuums: Current home robots are narrow machines (Roombas, robot vacuums). AI humanoids will transition from specialized tools to general-purpose assistants capable of multi-step household management: meal preparation, laundry folding, cleaning, organizing, and maintenance.
Aging Population Support: Over 100M Americans aged 65+ create an 80% increase in eldercare needs by 2030. Home robots will provide companionship, medication reminders, emergency response, and assistance with mobility limitations—addressing the caregiver shortage (estimated at 8.7M unfilled positions in 2026).
Time Savings & Economic Impact: Average household performs ~15 hours/week of domestic work. A reliable home robot could reclaim 3–5 hours weekly, equivalent to $10K–$15K annual value. For dual-income families, this translates to potential income increases or reduced childcare costs.
Safety & Independence for the Homebound: Robots will enable older adults and disabled individuals to maintain independence by performing tasks they can no longer manage safely: opening cabinets, preparing meals, cleaning spills, calling for help during emergencies.
4. Insights on Key Topics
The “Nine” Problem
The industry’s central challenge is the 90% → 99% barrier. Rodney Brooks and Andrej Karpathy warn that going from “good enough” to “reliably safe” requires exponentially more work. Figure’s 56% success rate falls short of this threshold—roughly one successful day out of six in unsupervised deployment.
Data vs. Physical Understanding
The debate between Brooks (dexterity comes from touch, not vision) and scaling-law proponents is unresolved. Current evidence shows video training helps with generalization but may not fully capture tactile feedback loops. Real-world dexterity likely requires hybrid learning: human demonstrations + sensor-rich interaction.
Commercial Viability
The $4.83B–$25B market projection assumes adoption will outpace current barriers. Key hurdles include:
- Trust: 60%+ of Americans reject home robots if recordings train AI (YouGov poll)
- Safety: No clear liability framework when robots cause injury
- Affordability: $6K+ for mid-tier humanoids exceeds most households’ budgets
The Real Near-Term Future
Rather than fully autonomous home assistants, expect a hybrid model: AI-humanoid systems with remote assistance during learning phases, transitioning to increasing autonomy as capabilities mature. Wheeled domestic robots (like Weave’s $7,999 unit) will likely dominate the next 3–5 years, with humanoids serving specialized roles before becoming general-purpose assistants.
The Ethical Imperative
The data collection model—paying workers to film themselves doing mundane tasks—raises profound questions about consent, privacy, and labor exploitation. If thousands of people are compensated to document their lives for AI training at scale, we’re building a new digital commons of human behavior that requires transparent governance.
Bottom Line: AI home robots represent one of the most significant potential transformations in daily life, but the gap between laboratory performance and reliable real-world deployment remains substantial. The next breakthroughs will likely come from better tactile sensing, improved safety verification frameworks, and regulatory clarity—more than raw computational power alone.
