Over a month ago, I heard former #teacher #ChinonyeChukwu discussing her new #film #Till on #NPR #FreshAir. I immediately became determined to take my students on a field trip to see the #movie. Today, it happened: our school’s 120 freshman had a private screening at our local AMC. Our #PTO paid for it. The kids started out goofy, but quickly became immersed. Shocked gasps and crying. When the credits began to roll, the students burst out in applause. Incredible film and incredible day. See it!

99% of the time I am happy with how things shook out for me, but the truth is I have an enormous amount of student loan debt because I never secured stable employment with my #JD that even came close to cracking US household #MedianIncome. When those financial realities rear up more than 10 years later, as they have today, I feel deeply frustrated.

Only a tiny bit into #TheOverstory and my burning question is wtf did Frank Jr do to author #RichardPowers?? Like three of the four times this guy comes up, Powers gratuitously insults him! All we know is that his dad died when he was a little boy, which seems like it would make him a sympathetic figure. Meanwhile, Powers is like, “Frank Jr., who was such a complete yutz it’s a wonder he could even remember to breathe in and out, the moron, picked up the camera and walked outside.”

Among 10 million other things, Musk’s disastrous purchase of #birdsite will inevitably usher in an era of extreme #privacy and #data regulation with #BigData. While I personally support this and think it’s long overdue, it’s incredible that the incompetence of one greed-fueled idiot could significantly impact #DataBrokerage, one of the biggest industries on Earth. 🍿
