Был такой #tootle, довольно навороченный. Причём с удобным интерфейсом.
Если у вас несколько аккаунтов, то для каждого есть раздельные настройки интерфейса, размера шрифтов и цветовой схемы. Удобно листать локальную и федеративную ленту.
Но похоже, что давно не обновлялся. У меня сейчас вылетает просто при открытии уведомлений :-(

Can I make do with much less RAM?
Is there a browser that will work?
Is there web content that is lightweight enough to view?

I am having trouble opening mastodon using chrome on Ubuntu.So I logged in with Tootle, a Linux client. It looked like every other post that I had boosted had a weird Lorem Ipsum post. Something I had no memory of at all.
Anyway, I started unboosting / unfavoriting them. It just now occurred to me that this might be some kind of Tootle bug.
If I unboosted / unfavorited a post of yours, that’s why. Sorry!
I still don’t know what the root cause is.

ich habe gestern das #librem5 mit im Büro gehabt und den Rest des Tages verwendet. Heute morgen habe ich alle E-Mail Accounts zuende eingerichtet und auch noch #tootle für #mastodon installiert.
Da mir gestern die #purism #community noch geholfen hat bluetooth wieder zu aktivieren, habe ich auch noch #podcasts damit gehört...Ich glaube ich nutze es aktuell mehr als den noch erlaubten Androiden...
vorsichtshalber werde ich mal anfangen zu spaaren =P

Teste gerade #Tuba, einen Fork von #Tootle unter #Linux. Macht insgesamt einen guten Eindruck: zügige Performance und optisch unter #LinuxMint ansprechend.
Zuvor habe ich #Whalebird ausprobiert. Das Programm hat mir aber insgesamt zu "träge" auf meine Eingaben reagiert.
Nutzt ihr unter Linux einen Desktop-Client für #Mastodon bzw. das #Fediverse?
Wenn ja, welchen und warum gerade diesen?

probiere gerade #tootle auf einem sehr alten Gerät aus. Wie von mir erwartet funktioniert dieser lokale Client besser als die aufgerufene Webseite. Letzte ruckelt und stottert weil die Hardware mit dem Inhalt im Browserfenster überfordert ist. Toots verfassen macht so keinen Spaß.
Tootle ist einfach da, kein Ruckeln, kein Stottern, jeder Tastendruck innerhalb von nicht spürbaren Millisekunden auf dem Bildschirm.Wieso geht der Trent gleich zur WebApp weg von lokaler Software?

@s4mdf0o1 I appreciate the list you linked. Of those apps, the only one in official Debian repos is #Tootle, and that project just died 3 months ago so it will not be in the next Debian release. From there, the only official #Debian app I’m aware of that will stick around for the forseeable future is called #Toot, a CLI & TUI app.

For those on #Gemini, I wrote up a little on the #Librem5 a few weeks ago. I'm still getting used to it, but I am writing this post on the Librem 5 :) It is much more capable than my old Pinephone (though the Pinephone is cool).
Most important for my writing, it runs #Manuskript really well. I use #Tootle for Mastodon, and #Lagrange for cruising Gemini.

Тут кстати вышел ещё один десктопный клиент для #Mastodon - #Tuba
Он лучше чем #Tootle .. кажется немного более законченым, хотя явно ещё требует тонны доработки
Из плюсов именно отдельного настольного клиента:
1. выглядит красиво и нативно
2. меньше времени проводите в социалочке, т.к. иногда лень переключатьсяз.ы. так же узнал для себя интересное, для перехода "назад" в GTK приложениях можно использовать сдвиг двумя пальцами по залоговку.. проверил в нескольких - работает. Открытие года. Каеф, оч удобно

On my desktop, #Mastodon works smoothly, but on my phone, it’s a hassle, and started getting dramatically worse a few days ago.
So I am looking into #app choices to try, on iOS. But there’s a lot! Does anyone have any advice about which I should use or avoid? I see #ivory , #metatext , #icecubes , #mammoth , #tootle , #tooot , #mastoot , #tusker … I do NOT have the energy to try all of that, so any opinions would be useful, please.

An update to my previous comparison of every Mastodon iOS app: I said IceCubes was the only app I could get to play GIFs and videos correctly — they’re now working in all the apps.
As a result, #Toot! is my app of choice, *except* that it doesn’t provide notifications. #Ivory is my 2nd choice, but it requires ongoing monthly payments, which means I won’t keep it long-term (tho I’m continuing to test it).
I also still really like #Tootle. #IceCubes is great, but has too much white space.

#TodayILearned that if you're using #Tootle and open an image in an external viewer, it saves a copy to ~/Downloads. That's pretty useful.
All the #Linux #Mastodon clients leave something to be desired, but so far I find Tootle to be the best.

Currently I'm running "20221123-0638-postmarketOS-v22.06-phosh-18-purism-librem5-installer.img.xz" -- "megapixels-purism" wasn't working and other than that I'm systematically going through packages to see what is available and workingWhen using a USB Dock and mouse opening apps and getting around is surprisingly quick.
I'm building a list of my favorite packages so I can pmbootatrap my own install image if possible eventually.
So far I much prefer #postmarketos to #pureos -- I am looking forward to trying #gnome for #librem5 #linuxphone too.
Some apps are broken like Gnome Maps, Pure Maps, Gnome Weather and a few "out of bounds" for the screen size in portrait mode. I am not sure if postmarketos needs to update them or what.
#lollypop for music works great. #portfolioand #nautilus for file browsing have improved since I tried them on #pinephone. #giara isn't yet working maybe I need a new version. Also ive yet to setup #tootle. #geary is bitter sweet, it is adequate for email but was hard to setup until I used a mouse. I love #gnomecalculator and #gedit for mobile has grown on me.
I was having trouble setting up #nextcloud -client but maybe when I try again it will work. #nextcloud in #gnomesettings worked fine and populated my contacts just fine.
I wasn't able to get Gnome Calendar working. #firefox -esr worked better than #epiphany but I need epiphany for webapps on the app screen for sites like https://windy.com and https://web.pulse point.org
I'm using #starship console just fine. #pavucontrol
#gnomeclocks is great! #pidgin not so much #rhythmbox not so much as it goes out of bounds.
I've also still yet to find a good video player, a equiv for youtube/newpipe and I have to give gnome-sound-recorder another try for audio note taking.
All in all it has come a long way from my initial research via PinePhone PMOS.
I love that there are also terminal apps like #bashtop too -- I wouldn't even mind having some .desktop launchers in the App Menu to load full screen versions of those and #htop -- certainly there's room for #neofetch ricers to make some cool #unixporn rices -- its going to be an interesting year for the linux phone space for sure -- so glad I finally have a #librem5 to poke around and do some research.
The big setback for me right now is figuring out a good #element client for #matrix -- I tried #neochat but it isn't fetching decryption keys -- #fractal froze -- I have to spend more time poking around.
And then of course as indicated by #purism "most wanted apps" on their website a #signal app of some sort or android version of it on the phone would be really important as SMS and MMS are not really reliable or robust.
More poking to do, thanks for the info about 22.12 -- installing pmos with the wiki was fairly straight foreward, slightly rough around the edges but not even close to hard mode in the #linux world.
