The client API strategy: Mastodon API first, #Friendica extensions where needed, custom only as a last resort. The goal: make existing clients work out of the box, and allow an easy path to full support.

I've just updated my little #HaikuOS laptop, a Panasonic CF-19 with an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.06 Ghz and 3 GB RAM. It's just awesome how fast this old system still is with Haiku OS. I write this via #Tokodon on the laptop and i miss this wonderful simple UI of BeOS/Haiku OS on my daily driver with #Linux.

#Tusky is nice and lightweight but kinda sucks in features such as the absence of quoted retoot button.

#Tokodon also sucks in features. There's no quoted retoot button and search is a little bit limited.

I still do want a search box for languages in Tokodon. It's really hard to use if you post in multiple languages as searching them is time consuming.

It still feels better to use the web UI to me. Maybe I'm just stupid and missed an option to limit the selection.

...das, screenshots, ist eine der anderen Umfragen die immer wieder als Benachrichtigung durchschlägt, unabhängig vom Client - die ist seit 45 Tagen vorbei. Auch diese habe ich etliche Male gelöscht.

Frage zu #mastodon: Die Umfrage ist seit 46 Tagen vorbei, diese und andere bekomme ich nach Ablauf andauernd wieder in Benachrichtigungen angezeigt, Ursache unklar, deswegen nehme ich an keiner Umfrage mehr teil. Woran kann es liegen, daß die immer wieder hoch kommt / kommen?

Primer #ViernesDeEscritorio con #KDE #Plasma 6.6, aproveché a echar un ojo a #Tokodon (no se rían hispanohablantes, así se llama el cliente de Mastodon del ecosistema KDE). Está mucho mejor que la primera vez que lo probé.

В очередной раз переехал. В #MastodonSocial зачем-то отключили живую ленту. Долгое время было лень возиться с переездом. Но в итоге все-таки созрел. Скучновато без других серверов.

В #moshidon почему-то исчезает кнопка перевода при подключении #VivaldiSocial В #tokodon ее тоже нет. Но там я не подключался с других серверов - возможно, ее в принципе не существует. А в moshidon переводы не поддерживает именно #Vivaldi Может, кто-нибудь в курсе, как исправить?

I occasionally get "Too many requests" when trying to use Tokodon, my fediverse client. I assume this means too much traffic to my instance... but I can still post from the web UI. So what exactly is going on?

Using #macOS and other apple ecosystem exclusive apps has ruined Windows for me in a way.

Like... outside of web clients like #Elk, there doesn't seem to be any good #Windows clients for #Mastodon. I tried #Tokodon by #KDE, but it's broken on Windows. It doesn't load icons...

Anyone know of Mastodon clients? Thank you!

#inshellisense is really cool with iDE like suggestions.
Small tool but now navigating through the directories feels more confident and clear to me.
one more terminal added to my arsenal.

Btw, zellij is really cool. I never knew I needed it until I got the taste of it. I guess we humans dont know whether something is good or not until we experience it for ourselves.

Just found out that Tokodon did NOT save the alt text that I added for the pictures. Meaning all I previously posted via Tokodon (that's more than a half of everything) with lengthy descriptions was a waste of time and effort.

I really want to like #Tokodon but...

It chokes displaying quoted posts in notifications. just whiffs and you may scroll no more.

YOU CANNOT SELECT TEXT IN A POST.
I sometimes read unconsiously with the highlighter, and now I am SUPER concious of it.

The AltText Editor is always popped up BEHIND the post editor.

It doesn't support creating quoteposts either.

Otherwise its prety great.

@BiCurious Es gibt noch #Tokodon für den KDE Desktop sowie #Whalebird als Client für Mastodon, Pleroma und Misskey. Beide Clients werden auf Flathub angeboten. Aber ich habe weder den Einen noch den Anderen getestet bzw. genutzt.

I just discovered that there is a Mastodon client included in the KDE stuff I installed when setting up my Arch Linux system: Tokodon.

Just set it up, really cool that I now can browse Mastodon without using the browser =)

Suite des tests sur #Android avec #UnifiedPush , #Tusky ne marche pas avec et plante. Par contre #Moshidon le gère bien. #ElementX est censé le gérer mais je n'ai rien trouvé dans ses paramètres.

Concernant le desktop Linux, #KDE l'a intégré dans son framework https://www.volkerkrause.eu/2025/04/18/kde-kunifiedpush-webpush.html et 2 applications le gère (#Tokodon et #Neochat).

Pour #GNOME un ticket a été ouvert puis transféré aux dev de la Glib qui l'ont clôturé en mode administration bureaucratique française..

#Push Benachrichtigungen unter #KDE funktionieren noch nicht perfekt, aber gut. Bei einem Neustart gibt es noch Probleme mit der Netzwerkverbindung. Aber immerhin eine gute Loesung auf die aufgebaut werden kann.
Wie man sehen kann wird #NeoChat und #Tokodon unterstuetzt. 👍

The most annoying thing about these apps (#Vivaldi, but also #Tokodon, and who knows how many else), at least as installed from #KDEDiscover is that —I don't know if because of Flatpak or whatever— they complain about not having access to a vault or password manager or something like that (sorry, don't remember the exact phrasing and I'm in desktop mode now). This might be a limitation of the #SteamDeck gaming mode though, for all I know.

It's scary how many cool projects I look into and find you've been part of. #Tokodon still has to be one of my favorites though, and I have hopes that one day #MerkuroMail will become a decent #KDE based #MobileLinux email client (something sorely missing atm).
