#Tokodon I'm begging you to please choose different symbols for the 'bookmark' and 'favourite' interactions... they're both stars!

Edit: nevermind, it's an icon theme issue... the icon is correctly identified as 'bookmark-new', but the icon theme for some reason made the bookmark icon look like a star instead.

I like using a timeline marker (save and restore reading position on some clients) and noticed that many clients have trouble handling it. Except #Tokodon. It might be a bug like the one I've solved in Tokodon, but I've noticed that clients either:

• Doesn't handle markers at all: Tusky https://codeberg.org/tusky/Tusky/issues/1542
• Saves marker but doesn't restore it: Fedilab https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/issues/495 it uses it's cached position and not the marker from instance, so sharing position between different client's doesn't work…

I've tried using Tokodon on Android but it has its own set of problems: Sometimes when app goes to background and then foreground again, the window is empty and I can only close it and open again. I don't really care about evil corpo's OS, so I'm not interested in debugging it. Back to using fedi on computers only.

I've lost with curiosity and installed a fedi client on my phone, again. But hear me out! #KDE has F-Droid repo with nightly builds! So, I can have #Tokodon on all of my devices. Who can win with such temptation?

Mastodon - bin unter Linux von Hyperspace auf Tokodon gewechselt und bisher sehr zufrieden. Benachrichtigungen / Erwähnungen sind besser gelöst, und die Suche funktioniert besser.

Leider wurde auf mastodon.social die globale timeline deaktiviert. Das finde ich etwas unglücklich. Um daran trotzdem "teilnehmen" zu können, habe ich auf nrw.social einen weiteren Account eingerichtet. Freiheit durch Optionen 😀

This week on #ProFed: I connected #Tokodon to the test installation – using the #Mastodon API.

The client API strategy: Mastodon API first, #Friendica extensions where needed, custom only as a last resort. The goal: make existing clients work out of the box, and allow an easy path to full support.

Federation is also moving forward.

I've just updated my little #HaikuOS laptop, a Panasonic CF-19 with an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.06 Ghz and 3 GB RAM. It's just awesome how fast this old system still is with Haiku OS. I write this via #Tokodon on the laptop and i miss this wonderful simple UI of BeOS/Haiku OS on my daily driver with #Linux.

I still do want a search box for languages in Tokodon. It's really hard to use if you post in multiple languages as searching them is time consuming.

It still feels better to use the web UI to me. Maybe I'm just stupid and missed an option to limit the selection.

Hey @[email protected] @[email protected] vielleicht haben Leute ja deine Klage über Nichtrunde Avatare gehört (ich persönlich fand deine These ja widersprüchlich), die du Mal in einem Vortrag geäußert hast.

ich habe gerade ein halbes Dutzend Fediverse-Apps installiert und zumindest #fread #flare und #tokodon machen kreisförmige Avatare und zwei davon auch den gewünschten Leerraum darunter.

Primer #ViernesDeEscritorio con #KDE #Plasma 6.6, aproveché a echar un ojo a #Tokodon (no se rían hispanohablantes, así se llama el cliente de Mastodon del ecosistema KDE). Está mucho mejor que la primera vez que lo probé.

В очередной раз переехал. В #MastodonSocial зачем-то отключили живую ленту. Долгое время было лень возиться с переездом. Но в итоге все-таки созрел. Скучновато без других серверов.

В #moshidon почему-то исчезает кнопка перевода при подключении #VivaldiSocial В #tokodon ее тоже нет. Но там я не подключался с других серверов - возможно, ее в принципе не существует. А в moshidon переводы не поддерживает именно #Vivaldi Может, кто-нибудь в курсе, как исправить?

Using #macOS and other apple ecosystem exclusive apps has ruined Windows for me in a way.

Like... outside of web clients like #Elk, there doesn't seem to be any good #Windows clients for #Mastodon. I tried #Tokodon by #KDE, but it's broken on Windows. It doesn't load icons...

Anyone know of Mastodon clients? Thank you!

Well, have just finished my first trial with a Mastodon client.

I tried out Tokodon primarily as it was clear from the information on the website that it had a light mode theme.

+ points: Tokodon did what it said on the tin and worked reliably.

- points: flatpak installation, spidery fonts and the UI not fitting in with my GTK desktop.

I have to admit that I am now used to the Mastodon web interface. That Tokodon has a very different layout was another minus point.

Unter #Linux funktioniert #Tokodon gut. Man kann damit z.B. leicht zwischen Accounts umschalten.

#inshellisense is really cool with iDE like suggestions.
Small tool but now navigating through the directories feels more confident and clear to me.
one more terminal added to my arsenal.

Some software on the screen:
KDE Plasma, Kitty terminal, Zellij

Btw, zellij is really cool. I never knew I needed it until I got the taste of it. I guess we humans dont know whether something is good or not until we experience it for ourselves.

Weird pride. I've pushed so much code in my lifetime, and yet this is the first one to an open source program I did not create from scratch

After 30 years of choosing to compute in an open source lifestyle, contributed & made the experience better

Certainly felt better than quiet contemplation of the state of the world
