  1. @ami_angelwings Elim Garak, from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

DS9's best example of a recurring character fleshed out better than many main characters on other shows. A man arguably forced into finding some decency, and dignity, within himself due to being exiled on a Bajoran/Federation space station. Will lie about anything and everything just for the practice.

(I've set myself a "one character per work" limit, but I'm using up Star Trek so quickly...)

  6. @ami_angelwings This one I don't have to struggle with: The Doctor, Star Trek: Voyager.

Start with Robert Picardo, an amazing actor. Then, even though it's "outsider looking in at humanity" for the fourth time in a row, and even though it's Voyager, manage to develop him as a character slowly but consistently over 7 seasons. And make him sarcastic, and arrogant, and half the time he's right to be arrogant and the other half he gets humbled.

    I love The Doctor.

  11. @ami_angelwings Here's an offbeat one: the Chief of CONTROL, from the 1960s series Get Smart, played by Edward Platt. His job was to convince himself every week that it was still a good idea to send Maxwell Smart on assignments while also trying not to strangle him. Platt was very very good at doing a slow burn.

(I think this counts as a C? His real first name comes up once, but everyone calls him Chief, and it's even how he's listed in the credits.)

  15. It has been a while since I posted anything but here is an etching of the view from the window of the Edinburgh to London train as it crosses the Royal Border Bridge over the River #Tweed above #Berwick. #Lindisfarne and #Bamburgh castles are on the distant horizon.
This is from a brass plate etched by spit-bite. Plate size 300x210mm.

Attributed to François Chiffart, but i think they mean François-Nicolas Chifflart with an ‘l”.

An 1870s allegorical #etching reproduced in an #engraving of a lecherous man perhaps dreaming :-)

These messy sketch-like engravings are easy to clean up in #GIMP as you don’t have to decide whatś mess and what’s intended perfectly :-)
