  1. Yes, it is true. Things you say during video calls using platforms are recorded! Fortunately, most of open source alternatives don't have this approach:

  2. At this weekend to meet old and new friends. We have lots of Rise Against Big Tech swag to share.

  3. @jonben @joshbuddy @papiris every bit helps, promoting initiatives and/or narratives on Mastodon is also very important. has a focus on values alligned people and orgs that already want to migrate, but don't know where to start with the migration. That is why we decided to co-organise workshops and try to avoid talking about the process more than specific tools. There are other initiatives that are spending time and energy on awareness. Every bit of effort helps 😉

  4. 📢 Join the Rise Against Big Tech coalition organizers on Dec 9th (6pm CET) for the second workshop on document sharing without Big Tech!

  10. Let's denormalise the use of big tech digital infrastructure for individuals and small & medium teams.

  11. Next week we're heading to in Estoril, Portugal (Sept 8-10) 🌊! cloud68.co/blog/join-us-at-glo

Looking forward reconnecting with digital rights defenders, members, campaigners and other providers.

  12. @Kabbaway @fedihost it is not an easy puzzle and it is a direct outcome of practices and freemium business models. We have blogged about this cloud68.co/blog/we-need-to-tal. If there are budget limitations @yunohost is a good way to have your online presence It is free as in free ice cream, but in capitalistic terms you pay with your time to set it up. Good news is that you end up learning and exploring + you become part of the self hosting community.

  13. Happy birthday @debian :ablobcatheart: ! Here is to hundreds of more years of free libre open source tech that empowers the vast majority of our digital infrastructure 🥂!

  14. A dark pattern (also known as a "deceptive design pattern") is a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things, such as buying overpriced insurance with their purchase or signing up for recurring bills. Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_p

  16. A few summer ⛱️ picks from our team that challenge big tech cloud68.co/blog/summer-2025-ou

Most of the selections have links to the respective feeds so you can escape algorithmic manipulation and . Have your own favorites that are not in the list? Do share in the comments :)

  17. @amalthea word! Can we make stickers aout of this? As part of the Rise Against Big Tech campaign?

  18. @jwildeboer indeed moving data to EU based entities might sound like a good move, but Eurocentrism is not the solution. Folks need to understand that this is not a silver bullet and it is a a bit more complicated than that. The solution(s) needs a wider discussion of all parties that are Values Alligned. The only thing that is sure is that we need to Rise Against Big Tech () together.
Disclaimer: we are a EU based entity.

  19. Big Tech is a single point of failure: pcmag.com/news/oops-google-acc

Lots of power to one human/corporation does not bring much nice things for the (majority) rest of us. Rise Against Big Tech

  20. Our thoughts on the announcement of closing shop in a few weeks: cloud68.co/blog/skypes-shutdow

    Rise Against Big Tech folks

  21. @CenDemTech time to Rise Against Big Tech ✊️

  22. @civictech thanks for for sharing these opportunities. Apologies if we are being 'that guy', but would be great if you could avoid tech infrastructure like g docs fro. big tech corporations that have a long list of malpractices in place. . Lots of respect for your work though.

  23. @Daojoan recently wrote a blog post about this cloud68.co/blog/we-need-to-tal. Our proposal as a solution? Rise Against Big Tech

  24. @anotherfami @recordrebel @phu that does not sound like a problem, but a solution to keep control over your data and community. Big tech platforms change their policies all the time and you don't have much saying when this happens. When you don't pay for it you are the product. We are obviously biased, but there are lots of other nice managed hosting small entities out there. You also don't feed the 'beast'. It is like buying from small local shops instead of a super market

  25. @recordrebel as long as it is open source you are good to go. This way you avoid vendor lock in for your community cloud68.co/blog/we-need-to-tal. You also Rise Against Big Tech easily

  26. @VoordeMus sorry to hear that! Now it is the best time to Rise Against Big Tech

  27. @george Rise Against Big Tech

  28. @sureshtrumpet not only , but all these tech corporations out there. They do the same over and over again. Rise Against Big Tech folks!

  29. Aaannd we wrapped up Torino with some cake for our team and participants to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Many thanks to all the organisers, volunteers, presenters and participants. It was lovely 🥰.

    Grazzie mille @ItaLinuxSociety @LinuxDayTorino for hosting us🤗.

  30. Enjoyed sharing the recipe of how we run Cloud68.co using to provide our managed hosting services to small and medium teams. Lovely crowd 🤩

  31. Our booth at @LinuxDayTorino is more focused on the Rise Against Big Tech campaign and less on our managed hosting services . Folks seem to like the stickers and the swag 😃

  32. Seems like right now as shown here downdetector.com/status/github/.

Maybe we should not have all eggs in one basket when if comes to our infrastructure. Preferring small hosters that provide with open source alternatives like @Codeberg or even better always is the best alternative!

  33. We wrote about open source alternatives to proprietary platforms like . Good options are and cal.com, but our favorite is the Appointments App which integrates with :
