  3. Cal.com is closing it's source due to the threat coming with AI coding:

    youtube.com/watch?v=JYEPLpgCRck

I don't know how I feel about that. It was always my favourite go-to alternative to Calendly.

What I also don't get is that they are releasing a Cal.diy source code side by side with less business features. Is that not threatened by AI?

Or is it just a business move to earn more money in the end?

  10. #Crypto# scammers are using #Calendly to send out #meeting #invites warning you to hand over your #Coinbase #recovery #passphrase or they threaten you will lose access to your wallet.

How do I know this? Because I just received one.

I don't even have a Coinbase account so not sure what their end game is here.

  14. CW: #AskFedi: meeting-booking software like Calendly or SimplyMeet.me

I need to set up one of those things where other people can pick a time for us to meet.

I only need it for a few meetings on a few days, so I don't want to have to maintain an entire online calendar up-to-date just so that it can see where the gaps are. I want one which is easy to use as follows: I go into the thing itself and select a few chunks of time which _are_ available, it turns those into bookable slots.

I'd also like it to be easy to remove unbooked slots manually without messing up any adjacent booked ones.

Previously I've not even used this type of software the other way round, as the person booking someone _else's_ available time - so I'm starting fresh with looking into it!

I've got my eye on SimplyMeet.me, because the below Zapier article said it was a nicely customisable one and can do intake questions, which would be nice. Has anyone else used that?

    Any other recommendations or pointers?

    Thanks in advance for clues!

    (boosts very welcome)

Some people find it impersonal, but damn is it a time and energy saver.

    Solves a real, draining pain-point.

  34. In effort to save some money I've consolidated tools for personal use.

I used to use #Calendly and #Fantastical - since I use latter far more, I canceled Calendly and set up Fantastical Openings. 2 meetings scheduled this week and it seems to work quite nicely. Downside is that attendee can't cancel/reschedule their meetings. I can live with that.

I'm also trying to move all my task management back to #Obsidian now with the improvements in Tasks Plugin. That plus Apple Reminders should work.

  40. In today's #socialengineering story by @briankrebs , threat actors posing as investors target people through attacks that start with a link added to the target’s calendar via #Calendly.

    How?
The attackers impersonate *real* and established cryptocurrency investors, approach potential targets online (a startup founder I the cryptocurrency space in this article), and with the lure of a potential investment, ask to schedule a video conference call.

The ones that engage, receive in their email a Calendly invite from the threat actors and "schedule a call".

The time & the date come. Once the target clicks the meeting link provided by the scammers, it prompts them to run a script that quietly installs malware on macOS systems.

  43. Am I just missing something wildly simple or does Calendly really just set the title of all calendar appointments to the attendees and there's no way to change it to use the event name?

  44. Ok, I know I’m very late to the party, but #TIL that #Zapier doesn't yet work with Apple Calendar, but #IFTTT is happy to sync your Apple Calendar events to Google.

My particular use case is to block time on my work calendar anytime I schedule a personal event (or when someone else schedules it via #Calendly).

    Two gotchas:
    - If there's a way to trigger a #Shortcut natively without IFTTT, that would probably be a cleaner way to sync calendars
    - IFTTT _probably_ needs to be in the background?
