  2. Itotatsu's (いと達) astonishing creation for moon-viewing...🙌😊

'Tsukimi manjū' (月見饅頭), a steamed bun filled with bean jam, is actually themed on an earlier festival in the year known as 'Kashō-no-hi' (嘉祥の日). The moon also played an important role on this day.

  3. 🌕HOW A RABBIT CAME TO BE ON THE MOON🖌️

The Heian period "Konjaku Monogatarishū" includes an ancient Buddhist tale, explaining how Taishakuten (帝釈天 'Commander of the 4 Heavenly Kings', often shown as the 'Old Man of the Moon') came to draw the image of a rabbit on the moon.

  4. Nao-san was quite skeptical when I mentioned the "Man in the Moon", so here's a rough idea of what he looks like... ...I'm not sure it's strengthened my case🤔

From far away it looks a lot more like a face, honestly!😅

  5. Because 'Moon Viewing' (月見) is celebrated at this time of year, images of rabbits pop up everywhere.

The idea of a Moon Rabbit was imported from China. A story in the 'Songs of Chu' (楚辞) first mentions a toad and rabbit on the moon pounding herbs for the immortals.

  6. It was believed both the moon and sun played important roles in the agricultural cycle.
People thought the god who controlled water resided in the moon, and thus it was important to honour him correctly so the rice might grow.
When the crop was older thanks was given to the sun.

During the Tang Dynasty in China, the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節) grew in popularity. A central part of these celebrations was moon worship and thanksgiving for upcoming harvests.

  10. 🎑THE MOON RABBIT🐇

In many Western countries people see a "Man in the Moon" (often considered "god of drunks"), but in Japan folk see the image of a rabbit pounding rice cakes in a mortar.
China's rabbit is crushing laurel leaves to create an immortality potion.

  11. 5) OBANA
Obana (尾花), a kind of pampas grass, is so-named because the plant ears resemble animal tails. Horses with chestnut coats and white manes/tails are known as 'Obana Kurige' (尾花栗毛).

In the language of flowers (花言葉) the grass symbolises vitality and reckless youth.

Displays of obana (susuki) and small pyramids of dango are often seen around 'moon viewing' season (月見), prayers for (and symbols of) a bountiful harvest.

  13. @literalgrill Another seasonal Japanese thing that's an Autumn event is Tsukimi 月見. Just remembered that it's today (or yesterday).

So there's not many autumn anime, but there's autumn traditions as main themes in quite a few anime... like 2019's Doraemon movie 39.
