By 2019 popular non prescription #heartburn #medication #Zantac was recalled from retail after it was found to contain an #antihistamine that blocks the release of stomach acid called N-nitrosodimethylamine (#NDMA) that is linked to causing #cancer.
#Drug Mfgr #GSK has reached $2.2bn #legalsettlement in US that is supposed to cover 93% of user cases brought thus far.
Previously #GlaxoSmithKline had paid $70m to settle with the lab that discovered the issue, and other big #drugmakers that also marketed the #OTC drug, including #Pfizer and #Sanofi, have already reached sizable settlements.
