  1. *Aye-Aye* - Endangered Species
    An illustration for the #wildlifewednesdaychallenge
The Aye-Aye is a long-fingered lemur, native to Madagascar. They have rodent-like teeth that perpetually grow and a special thin middle finger that they use to catch grubs and larvae out of tree trunks. Their decline is due to poaching; deforestation and superstition that causes them to be killed on sight.

  2. Pillar Coral is now listed as Critically Endangered after an alarming decline. This is mostly due to Coral Bleaching brought on by the rising of ocean temperatures. If too many reefs die, it will lead to the destruction of marine ecosystems. An illustration for the #wildlifewednesdaychallenge

  4. 'Wild Camel' - Critically Endangered Species.
These two-humped animals are the only mammals able to drink seawater to sustain themselves. They live in the Asian steppes (Gobi desert). The biggest threat to them are humans, destroying their natural habitat. Their population is showing a downward trend.

  5. Critically Endangered: Red Handfish.
It is thought that only around 100 individuals of these 10cm fish survive in the ocean. Habitat loss and destruction, pollution and illegal collection by humans are the key threats. They are only found in two 50m long patches of reef in south-eastern Tasmania.

This fox was first collected from San Pedro Island off the coast of Chile by Charles Darwin in 1834.

  10. 'Saiga Antelope'
Their decline is one of the fastest population collapses of large mammals recently observed. Demand for the horns in traditional Chinese medicine drives poaching and smuggling.
Fun fact: they are most closely related to the Springbok.
