Pohodový pátek v rytmu osmdesátek! Dnes je to moje hodně velká ♥️ovka.

25.6.1963 se narodil 🇬🇧 zpěvák, autor a producent *George Michael*.

Po otci Řek (rodným jménem *Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou*), po matce Brit, byl jednou z nejvýraznějších osobností pop music. Jeho kariéra se vyznačovala výjimečným pěveckým nadáním, skladatelským citem a schopností ovlivnit celou generaci posluchačů.

Profesionální dráhu zahájil počátkem 80s jako polovina dua *Wham!*, které tvořil se spolužákem Andrew Ridgeleym. Jejich hity je během krátké doby vynesly na vrchol mnoha žebříčků a globální popularity. (Btw. Wham! se v r. 1985 stali první západní popovou kapelou, která vystoupila v komunistické Číně.)

Po rozpadu Wham! v r. 1986 se George vydal na sólovou dráhu. Jeho debutové album *Faith* (1987) znamenalo revoluci – prodalo se ho přes 25 milionů kusů a zpěvák se rázem stal ikonou popu i R&B. Následovala alba jako *Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1* (1990) či *Older* (1996), která ukázala jeho hudební dospělost a schopnost tvořit hluboce osobní balady i taneční skladby

Během života prodal více než 100 milionů nahrávek a získal nespočet ocenění, včetně dvou cen Grammy a tří Brit Awards. Vedle hudebních úspěchů byl znám také svou štědrou filantropickou činností.

George Michael zemřel nečekaně o Vánocích, 25.12.2016, ve svém domě v Goring-on-Thames ve věku 53 let.

V listopadu 2011 jsem měl to štěstí vidět a slyšet ho v Praze *(Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour)*.

Nejvíc vzpomínek na časy, co už se nikdy nevrátí, mám ale spojených s jeho debutovým sólovým albem. Z něj si připomeňme první a poslední písničku.

I didn’t survive #Whamageddon (got knocked out on Dec 3rd!) but never heard her. Luckily this Waymo was not playing it either. Also a strange co-promotion

Whelp - I made it through Whamageddon unscathed for the first time ever (mainly by almost never leaving the house and definitely never setting foot in a shopping mall).
Nevertheless, someone tried to spend about $5k at a Hungarian travel agent using my credit card at midnight last night. So it'll be EFTPOS for a while until they send me a new card.

Me la sono vista brutta quando sono incappato nella terribile cover di Vindaroo Singh ma per il resto ha pagato evitare del tutto l'ascolto della radio. Come notava un collega, forse i negozi iniziano a stare attenti con le playlist natalizie.

L'anno prossimo alziamo la posta e affrontiamo il #Mariahgeddon?

I get the fun of #Whamageddon but I think it'd be better to make the game about a song that makes me want to stab myself with a pencil, like The Little Drummer Boy - Bette Middler, Bob Seger, Stevie Nicks all have similarly cursed renditions that somehow still come back each year.
