@danmccullough Another black fungus for Black Fungi/Friday!
This photo was from my first sighting of black earth-tongues, last week. There were a few dozen of these clubs over a small area, only spotted after stopping to look at something else 😆
I was told these were Geoglossum fallax, though Trichoglossum hirsutum is a possibility too. This one is very finely hairy; and T. hirsutum was described as having a "velvety stalk" though I would hesitate to so describe this one's.
