18 October 2024Excerpt: "Through the book we hope to show how #Indigenous ingredients such as #murnong can be easily incorporated into our home herb and veggie patches and everyday cooking practices, widening the range of plants we eat (good for our health), and encouraging us to explore variety in agriculture (good for the planet).
" #WarrigalGreens curry is one of the dishes my family enjoys and also makes a lovely light gnocchi. #LillyPilly and #Pigface are perfect for pickles, while #RubySaltbush berries decorating pavlova are festive and joyful."

#InvasivePlants
Since it's from Australia/NZ, I used to grow #WarrigalGreens (Tetragonia tetragonioides) in the greenhouse.
Two years ago, I planted a few seedlings on 3.5x0.8m outside for the first time.
This year, after winter temperatures down to minus 15°C, the plant seeded it self and although we harvest it, it currently covers roughly 5x3.5m of ground.
So Warrigal greens are now definitely on my invasive species watchlist!

@BroadforkForVictory It's a pity, that I can't buy from #RealSeeds (anymore - thanks to #brexit). I value their work and the make of their seed cleaner https://www.realseeds.co.uk/seedcleaner.html is still high on my to do list.
Next summer, we hope to be back to the UK, but they don't sell through shops, right?Have you tried #WarrigalGreens as substitute for #spinach, too? They grow prolifically, the stems can also be used and in the greenhouse they come back as volunteers (I keep seed, too).
