How was your transition to digital? This was made with my first digital DSLR - Nikon d40 in 2008. Though it was way more convenient than shooting slide film I did not like the outcome because the RAW files looked bland compared to the rich colours of #velvia50 - I did not know much about post processing 😂 I went back to my old FE 10 and f100s and did not come back before I lost a whole load of slides when relocating from India. I realised the convenience of backing up digital files as opposed to literally storing away slides in a vault 🤦🏾#photography #birds #birdphotography

This was Sheriffmuir in Stirlingshire, early one morning.

This is the last of my mini-series of trees. Velvia 50 using a Mamiya 645 (a lovely camera that I’m selling here: https://www.ffordes.com/p/SOR-243-064774/mamiya-645/pro-tl-complete - you know you want one for yourself for #Christmas, and I would like the sale to get something else for my 4x5 camera!).

This will be my last posting for a week or so: I’m taking a social media break and won’t be here very much. I wish you all a good rest of the holiday if you’re marking it, and a happy new year. May it come with peace for all, in #Palestine, #Ukraine, #Sudan… and in our own lives.

Picking up on trees after yesterday’s image, today’s photo is from an early morning in Ratzeburg (northern Germany), where the trees grow in symbiosis with the rising and falling waters of the lakes surrounding the town. The summer light highlights the colours and make them stand out just a little more.

IMO Fujifilm Natura F1.9 variants are the ✨best✨ pocket full-frame *landscape* cameras you can buy, and they’re well under USD1000

AF takes some getting used to, but I’ve been loading my Black F1.9 with decade-expired Velvia 50/100 and shooting «for coverage»… ungraded scans of Velvia 50 from Tongariro, and 90% of the roll is equally spot-on
