In this deep dive, AI breaks down the "Physics of Opposites" that drives the narrative of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Idiot. At its heart, the novel is a collision between the Christ-like innocence of Prince Myshkin and the destructive, earthly passions of Rogozhin and Nastasya Filippovna.

  2. "China Girl" is a song written by #IggyPop and #DavidBowie in 1976, and first released by Pop on his debut solo album, #TheIdiot (1977). Inspired by an affair Pop had with a Vietnamese woman, the lyrics tell a story of unrequited love for the protagonist's Asian girlfriend, realizing by the end that his Western influences are corrupting her. Like the rest of The Idiot, Bowie wrote the music and Pop improvised the lyrics while standing at the microphone.

  4. "The Idiot" by Iggy Pop released this day in 1977. Taking absolutely nothing away from Iggy, this is likely my 5th or 6th most favorite Bowie album.

  5. The Idiot

Released on March 18, 1977, The Idiot is the debut solo album by Iggy Pop. It was produced and largely co-written by David Bowie and, as Iggy called it ... "a cross between James Brown and Kraftwerk." The album is hailed as a foundational blueprint for post-punk, industrial, and gothic rock. It was the album playing on Joy Division singer Ian Curtis's turntable the night he died. #iggypop #theidiot #70srock #rockmusic #70smusic #music #musicsky #musiciansky

  12. Spent most of the day finishing Dostoevsky's The Idiot. This was my third time reading it; the last time was more than 20 years ago. I was disappointed for most of the read (which is extra disappointing because I often tell people this is one of my very favorite books), but the final 150 pages really makes up for the other 450, I think. It's still one of my favorite books.

What a treat! Dostoyevsky makes for wonderful immersive reading. All you need to do is accept that all the players are driven by forces they do not understand and cannot master. And allow the author to take you along. There always is redemption in the end --- whether this is genuine or artificial is hard to say, I get some aesthetic and moral joy from those endings.

#BrothersKaramazov is it. You could also try #TheIdiot, even more feverish than his other novels!
