I had a rather strange discovery a few days ago.

It's commonly accepted (at least on the Bootleg Wiki and the Telefang Wiki) that Telefang Power was used to create Pokemon Diamond and Speed was used to create Jade.

However, the copies (in Chinese) I own are swapped around based on the headers. I compared my dump of Jade with another verified dump of Jade in Chinese by comparing their headers and watching their intro sequences.

The other weird thing is that the Telefang wiki mentions that Jade has been known to cause dumping issues by having an incorrect ROM size in the header. However I've found the reverse, my copy of Jade dumped as 2mb which it should and Diamond gave me a measly 64kb file.

Not sure why but there you go.

I purchased a Chinese copy of the infamous Telefang "hack", Pokemon Diamond.

Considering the Chinese version of Jade actually looks like the cart sticker, this is not what I expected.

EDIT: I've been informed there are two different versions of Pokemon Diamond in Chinese which explains this pretty well.

I wish them the best of luck. Fandom (formerly #Wikia) is an awful business that treats your small #Wiki as an #ad #spam farm with a lot of #SEO riding on it. This isn't even an #enshittification case; 13 years ago the western #Telefang community forked off Wikia and it took half a decade for us to consistently rank above their ancient copy of our wiki in search.

@noelle This is literally the worst possible thing that #wikia could have done with that site. Yes I know they're Fandom now, I don't care.

My first experience with Wikia was about a decade ago. I heard about #Telefang and the translation patch. I tried reverse-engineering the title screen, since it wasn't translated yet... only to realize that I had an old patch because everyone moved off Wikia a year ago

RacieB had tried to warn people, but Wikia actually de-op'd her and locked the main page
