At last! Nationally coordinated recycling polices are being rolled out. Here's some highlights (from Nottingham):
*tetrapacks*. Yeah! They are still an awkward mix of foil, plastic and card. We have saved 1000 tetrapaks, and the unnecessary transport of a tonne of water, by switching to Overherd oat milk powder
Loose *foil* - gather enough for tennis ball sized wad.
*plastic bags and wrap*. This is a huge advance for home recycling! Many types are covered, with some exceptions. I do however I am sceptical about how and where it will be processed so, like us at Veggies Catering Campaign , you should avoid the use of plastic bags and wrap
Veggies and #SumacCentre have been obsessive about recycling since our beginnings at the #RainbowCentre on Mansfield Road which, together with Nottm FoE from 1985, was part funded by the collection of cans and newspaper, long before household recycling became widespread.

Legal fees fundraiser to support a lead claimant from the Lambeth Bridge mass arrest in 2020.
The arrest took place on 3rd September 2020 on Lambeth Bridge, London, during a ‘Critical Mass’ bike ride. It was at the time of the September 2020 Extinction Rebellion ‘Autumn Rebellion’.
There is a fundraiser at #SumacCentre on 20th June . Details, and link for
online donations, at https://sumac.org.uk/event/lambeth-bridge-legal-campaign-fundraiser/124 people were arrested, bikes were seized, property went missing and many were imprisoned to be released with no charge. Of those 124, 100 are seeking justice.
A trial date is now fixed, the Lead Claimant trial will commence on 11 October 2027 for 9 weeks. It will take place at the High Court of Justice in London.
The outcome will crucially not only determine the success and/or settlement value of the remaining group but will hopefully make the London Metropolitan Police think twice about carrying out such action again.

Council pulls snail racing event and apologises after activists express concern for animal welfare
The Nottingham Animal Coalition branded the planned activity 'desperate' in a Facebook post
"Do you have any idea the pain a snail endures to be ripped off the floor from their trail?" they wrote. "And you're encouraging people to do this?"
The protesters also detailed potential health hazards for young attendees, warning wild snails and slugs can harbour parasites.
What a great result. Well done everyone.

Radical Routes is a network of radical housing co-ops, workers co-ops and social centres. Their members are committed to working for positive social change.
Social Centres, such as #SumacCentre, have a strong past history of mutual support with Radical Routes but, for reasons to be explored on Friday, all have fallen aside. Sumac Centre is keen to rejoin Radical Routes to strengthen this bond, and maybe build a bridge with the Social Centres Network.

This week’s #SumacCentre food distro of surplus fresh fruit, veg and bread.
Freely available 11am - 3pm on Sunday (during Sunday Brunch 11am - 2pm) and Wednesday (drop-in warm space, with community meal at 1 - 1.30pm).
There's free fresh fruit & veg, including bananas, broccoli, tomatoes, lemons, carrots, lettuce, parsnips, celery, cabbage. Also satsumas, grapes, apples, peppers, Brussel sprouts, mini pumpkins.

Perennial Housing Co-op had a really lovely time staffing their first Radical Routes stall at London Anarchist Bookfair last month.
A stall also appeared at the Bristol #Anarchist Bookfair, assisted by #SumacCentre.
Meanwhile @Veggies displayed the #RadicalRoutes banner at the @ethicalconsumer Conference at #Richmix in Whitechapel, London and at Nottingham Green Festival #NottmGreenFest

Inquiry has been questioning 'L3', a member of Croydon Hunt Sabs, spied on by #spycops HN16 James Thomson.
L3 accompanied Thomson to France, who went to supposedly to get a gun - he was making stuff up to prolong his undercover deployment.
