It's amazing how the musical episode of Strange New Worlds, "Subspace Rhapsody", came out 18 months ago, and I'm still discovering clever little things when I listen to it for the umpteenth time.
I took me weeks to realize, back then, that my two favorite songs were the *same song*, just in a different key and style.
Today I realized that the two songs even start with, aaargh, *the same line*.

I didn't like #STSNW #SubspaceRhapsody at all, but whatever, I'm glad it was made, as from user reviews and toots I saw it seems quite a few people really enjoyed it.
But what I dislike way more is the tone quite a few people use when expressing their dislikeness about the episode on the net.

Sorry, but what were they thinking dancing like that - slow motion swinging of the arms, etc? This should've been a huge broadway number with people actually dancing in sync!

In #StarTrekV: The Final Frontier, the late great Nichelle Nichols played Uhura in a scene of her doing a fan dance while singing a song. All her fans knew that she sang and was thrilled to learn that Uhura would be singing in the film, but unfortunately, it was dubbed over, despite initially being promised to be her voice.
In the latest episode of #StrangeNewWorlds, #SubspaceRhapsody, Uhura, and by extension, Nichols, is vindicated by Celia Rose Gooding performing the best numbers.

I love the Star Trek Strange New Worlds series, but remember hearing about a musical episode and first thinking “oh god no…”
Then I watched it.
Now it's my most rewatched episode in the whole show. Always puts me in a good mood after watching it.
`Status Report` is also guaranteed to be stuck in my head for days after each watch. 🎼💕

Just watched #SubspaceRhapsody another time and with each watch, I LOVE IT MORE AND MORE!
It is SOOO good and the combination of great songs, great writing and great actors just makes the whole kaboodle *chef's kiss*
I can't wait to see people belting out these songs at future #StarTrek cons.
I might try to organise a super-singalong night and show it on a big projector. 🤔

My personal favourite is "How Would That Feel". It could be my song. I'm probably also the only person who loved the fantasy scenes. 😭
Although it is sad to see some songs with so few votes, I did ask for your favourite song/s, not which ones you liked at all. Most people only voted for one or two songs, so it makes sense that some songs fell so far behind.

The utter polarization in the audience reviews of #ThoseOldScientists and #SubspaceRhapsody are hilarious and (I think) telling that SNW is doing something right.
Huge numbers of 5-star reviews with a very vocal minority of 1-star reviews claiming this is the worst thing to ever happen to Trek and that it'll ultimately kill the series 😂

Season 2 of #StrangeNewWorlds changed it from being a 'like' to a 'love' for me, and the musical episode was the surprising clincher. I do like TV that can do both silly and serious, often at the same time. It's also why Doctor Who is so much fun.
