    CW: STUC Conference, Arts and Culture

    An excellent motion put forward by #Equity and the #MusiciansUnion campaigning for an increase to Scotland’s creative and cultural budget. It does bring money to the nation, but even if it didn’t, it should still be given the funding it needs because the arts and culture are worth so much more than their economic value. Unsurprisingly, it was passed unanimously by congress. #STUC #Arts

    Humza Yousaf: we will oppose this abhorrent anti strike legislation at every level. We will campaign to make sure it is not applied in Scotland. However, if the UK government insists on imposing it on Scotland, the Scottish government promises it will NEVER use the new powers in Scotland. #STUC

    One of the fun things about the #STUC training yesterday was seeing everyone’s reactions to the trainer’s explanation of what trading in #derivatives actually involves and why it so inevitably lead to the financial crash.

    Capitalist economics is so utterly ludicrous and out of control.
