Researchers seeking alternative means to foil antibiotic-resistant bacteria have found that a fatty acid found in ginger and turmeric reduces the ability of *Staphylococcus aureus* to adhere to mammalian tissue, limiting its ability to spread, but not killing it and so, perhaps, not inducing an adaptive response.
