We could be past the tipping point already.

Tipping points (like supermassive black hole event horizons) can leave one feeling comfortable for a short period after having been passed.

    Then…

  3. Explaining why a #blackhole produces light when ripping apart a #star
Every now and again, a star wanders too close to a blachole and experiences what's called a tidal disruption event. The black hole's gravity rips the star to shreds, which results in #spaghettification of the star, resulting in a huge burst of radiation. We've observed this happening several times now. Researchers are now able to simulate with some confidence what goes on when the star is ripped apart.

Wish I had a black hole to toss those anxieties into- along with their bureaucratic causes- & turn them into tangled, delicious spaghetti

  5. Thread: 2/2

Astronomers observed the closest example to date of a #Star that was shredded, or “spaghettified,” after approaching too close to a massive #BlackHole (cfa.harvard.edu/news/scientist).

The strand would be pulled apart, forming more strands that would be stretched even more. In a fraction of a second, the #BlackHole’s #Gravity would then pull the strands apart #Atom by atom. The #Atoms would plunge to the center of the black hole, where they’d be crushed out of existence—one strand of spaghetti at a time.

  7. Thread: 1.1/2

In #Astrophysics, there’s this thing we call #Spaghettification. The #BlackHole’s #Gravity would stretch you from head to toe, while squeezing you from side to side. In essence, you’d be turned into a long strand of spaghetti, hence the name. But not for long.

At that time we were saying, "Don't use their tools" and we were right. Reddit, #RobinHoodwinked are their tools.
