#SST24 Day 30: Finale
"Target identified; all ships prepare to engage.
Nuclear force has been autherised." -
I put all of my #spaceshiptember drawings in a gallery.

Oh, you're doing #shiptember? A few of us are posting under #spaceshiptember and/or #SST24.

Landing pads are critical infrastructure, often heavily monitored and well guarded, even among the safest worlds. A kilo of prevention is worth fifty thousand CU per year of cure.

> The BD76 Turpin is a workhorse of mineral extraction fleets among the inner rim's asteroid belts, carefully funneling latent resources into the assemblers and distribution networks. Operating one of these units keeps the colonists supplied and their cultures flourishing, a fact that often goes unremarked on a day-to-day basis, but earns their pilots a steady keep and a warm handshake behind a cold drink.
-
> Passenger liners like the A75 Correa keep themselves busy among the core worlds, often jumping between the same two or three systems for years. Because of the short turnaround times between stops, designs that are easy to repair and have slow-burning power plants are favored.
-
> LHI often commits significant resources to recycling older ship designs, and needs a number of ships that can perform the actual work. The WSH-FD74 Speakeasy's disassembler arm allows crews to get in close to their work, greatly reducing the time it takes to render a scrap hull back to usable components.
-
> The B73 Austron continues the role flexibility of the series, equipping the hull with an array of drones that can provide patrol path coverage over a much wider area than similar ships. Austron crew members are often chosen after rigorous testing for cooperation and multitasking skills, as the drones require a close-knit team to be used most effectively.

> The rapid expansion of the colonies during the reformation demanded an equally rapid ship capable of long-haul survey and seeding missions. The Coriander has two scout ships that detach from the command module, allowing it to more efficiently scan new systems and provide transportation to new colonies.
-
A little escape pod with a really cramped flight deck, for today's "Cramped" prompt
-
> On the darker side of Lane's catalog are models designed to the exact specifications of law enforcement agencies. The TTA commissioned the WAH-271 Epatha to fulfill a population surveillance and control position within the colonies, a fact that Lane benefits heavily from, despite also providing ships and frames to the reformation movement.
-
> The DD68 Magpie made its name among the core worlds for being a reliable orbital hauler, with hulls being shifted to intra-system transport duties in the inner rim as they age. Most Magpies today have several generations of history, and while few captains actually know them, it doesn't stop exaggerated stories for a free drink.
-
> An otherwise unremarkable hull, the CD67 Torranix is memorable among the colonies for being the ships used during the Fresian Liberation, news of which spread rapidly to rally for the colonial reformation movement.

I had an excellent time at the Society for the Study of Theology conference. I posted thoughts on papers at the other place, since that's where most people in the field (still) are. Such a diverse range of papers, from @amv on Jewish prayer, to Carlton Turner on African-Caribbean prayer practices (with a great postcolonial take on syncretism), and so many fantastic short papers. And it was fab to meet some wonderful people working on great stuff - incl one or two who knew my book! #SST24 #SST2024
