Back again on the #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars train, tonight watching the improbably-named #AdultDVD who so far have been an excellent dance/punk blend, delighting the good people of #Cardiff #Caerdydd.

Mesmerisingly good evening in #Bristol yesterday watching #Devotchka live for the first time in ~20yrs. Such a talented bunch and such a powerful live performance.
-
Excellent night out with all the family watching the #Caerdydd #Cardiff institution that is #JohnMOuse at #TheGate. Brilliantly bonkers as always.
-
Some good 90s legacy indie tonight - date night with @sreb23.bsky.social watching #Space at Clwb.
-
Lovely gig last night, seeing one of my heroes, #RobynHitchcock, with a full band at the iconic #AcapelaStudio. Lots of old #SoftBoys material in the set too, utterly spellbinding.
-
Some excellent #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars action last night at the basement of the Bristol Exchange (first time there for me).
Headliners #Goo were very good, and their debut album sounded as good live as it did recorded. Support from #Toodles and the very talented #DeathIsAGirl.
-
And then #Ciwb to finish it all off with a divine set featuring multiple vocalists, including a truly awesome cover of Tecwyn Ifan’s “Ofergoelion”. Spellbinding.
-
Got a lot of time for #DrosDro as well, who have brought a gaggle of very enthusiastic mates with them. Have definitely heard a few of their songs on Radio Cymru and they’ve smashed this.
-
Pleased to report that the ratios reversed by the end of their set. Much deserved too. A young but very talented bunch, #Penbleth, not previously on my radar but definitely a band I’d catch again. Funky guitars and meaty basslines aplenty.
-
Some good #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars tonight at Clwb in #Caerdydd #Cardiff. First up personal favourites #Maeve, followed by the solid #ToughCookie and headliners #DeadDadsClub.
-
Travel woes aside, a pleasant evening watch #TheAuPairs ably supported by the legendary #GinaBirch in Bristol. A nice #postpunk holiday from my usual #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars.
-
Yay, back to some #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars action tonight in #Caerdydd / #Cardiff, at Clwb.
First up local boys #Shale playing a banging set before #TheGuestList stride confidently on. The cynic in me says they’re a Temu version of Fontaines DC but the young crowd loved it and who am I to argue.
-
Gentle final day at #WalesGoesPop with a fine set from #Ynys and a first chance to see #Radhika. Ducked out early because most of the rest of the bill today seemed to be auld bastards rather than anything especially new. As always though, grateful to have an Easter music festival to fill what can otherwise be quite a long and aimless weekend.
-
Some excellent acts at #WalesGoesPop this afternoon / evening. Particular props for #LandeHekt and #Sassyhiya, which were my personal highlights.

Blocking out football misery by throwing myself into some live music for a few days. Anyone other Tŵters at #WalesGoesPop this weekend?
First up is the ever-brilliant and ever-youthful #SimonLove. Just what I need to cheer me up.

Carlsberg don’t do Saturdays, but if they did…
Three points for County, followed by some excellent #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars action at the #NewportMusicTrail courtesy of #Maeve, #GeneralWaste and #Ynys.

No #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars last night - instead the wonderful #StellaDonnelly at Clwb (supported by the also-wonderful #PysMelyn). Best gig of the year so far.
-
Some excellent #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars action in #Newport / #Casnewydd tonight. Nice to visit The Pit, my first time there. Great support from youngsters #FlatCat and the very talented #MilkInCrisis (good band, terrible name); and an excellent first headline set by local lads #Maeve.
-
Cracking gig at Clwb tonight, with the mighty #WavePictures smashing it. Liked the new material, and even my truculent teenager came away with a smile on his face.

Oof, back to some excellent #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars action tonight, watching #MilitarieGun in #Cardiff #Caerdydd. Absolutely banging. Grateful to @ianstreet.bsky.social for the recommendation.
-
Back to watching some #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars tonight in #Newport / #Casnewydd as part of the Horizons Cymru mini-festival.
First up local faves #TheRogues, and later my personal highlight #Slate. Good to catch #Chroma and #Himalayas too.

Three #NewYearsResolutions for me:
1) Attend more #gigs than football matches.
2) Eat more fish and less meat.
3) Listen to more non-American voices across my news and culture intake.Hopefully the way to a happier 2026!

Some more #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars tonight (plus Shouty Women too), for an early celebration of @sreb23.bsky.social’s birthday to watch #TheLovelyEggs 🥰🥚🥚 at The Globe in #Cardiff #Caerdydd, supported by the ever-brilliant #SweetBaboo.
-
After a few quieter gigs, back to some classic #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars tonight at Clwb in #Caerdydd / #Cardiff. Not that fussed about support band #CityDog, but a superb set from #KidKapichi which had the old place properly bouncing.
-
Poor photos, but a really really lovely gig tonight. Not #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars for a change, but some jangly indie as the wonderful #AlloDarlin reunite for a short tour to promote their superb new album, ably supported by the effervescent #WavePictures. Felt quite emotional seeing these two again, it’s been a long time.
-
Roedd gig gwych neithiwr yn Clwb Ifor Bach: pedwar band Cymraeg lleol, pob da iawn.
#Mac yn gyntaf, #Tonnau nesaf, #DagrauTân yn trydydd, ac roedd #Dadleoli y headliner.

-
@richardnosworthy Here’s my note to myself of stuff to potentially catch over the two days.
-
Not a #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars gig, but a Shouty Women With Guitars gig, watching the effervescent #PanicShack blow everyone away at the Newport Corn Exchange, ably supported by #ThePill who got a lot of love too.
-
Nice set by #DogRace before a sprint to catch my train home. Copped out a bit with a backing track (boo!) but intense and spiky nevertheless.
-
Two more quick acts at #D2Dfest.
#Immy, playing funky jazz, which I caught by accident but was good fun and very talented, and #Armlock from Melbourne (?) who were a bit doomy but seemed like nice folk.
Now for some more #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars before heading home.
-
Very much enjoying #TTSSFU - great act, lousy name. Lovely sumptuous shoegazing, and they all look like they’re having a thoroughly good time of it.
-
Less enamoured with #SexMask, my third band of the day. Solid enough guitar licks, but they lack much charm or self-awareness.
Depressing as well to see that the majority of bands on #TheFleece’s listings these days are tribute acts. ☹️
-
Up and running at #d2dfest, with a letterbox-sized view of #TheNewCut in a very crowded #Thekla. A good start to the day! 🎸

Anyone from here doing Dot To Dot festival in Bristol tomorrow? #D2Dfest #LiveMusic #bands #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars #Bristol
-
A change from my usual #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars last night, but only slightly. Superb, raucous, noisy set from the ever-brilliant #Adwaith in Bristol. The new album definitely works live, and The Louisiana remains as excellent a venue as ever.
-
Having founded the #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars hashtag yesterday, thought I’d add to it by putting up a list of a few bands who are very much my jam at the moment…
Loving the new #Deadletter album and excited to see them next month in Bristol. Also really enjoying the quirky Cymraeg brilliance of #KimHon. Then #BigSpecial are getting a lot of plays and I’ve also really liked the bits I’ve heard of #DogRace so far.
-
One thing I miss about Twitter is that I haven’t (yet) found ways on Mastodon of keeping track of good local bands and discovering new ones.
So to try and help, I’m going to post using the hashtag #ShoutyBlokesWithGuitars when I see/hear a band I like. Hopefully others might do the same.
Photo below is from last night at #ClwbIforBach, (#Cardiff #Caerdydd) of the effervescent #SaloonDion, supported by #Fubelt, who I’d not seen before but will aim to see again.
