The wasps have finally completely left the nest by mid-November. All summer long, there was tons of activity with dozens of wasps buzzing around.

was kind enough to pose for me in different positions. I took the photos with an iPhone 15 Pro and a homemade lens to focus up close and get that bokeh and shallow depth of field.

This is one of my favorite photos, taken with an iPhone 13 mini and a homemade lens for close focusing. That’s why there’s so little depth of field. I assure you the photo is not edited. This Heliophanus tribolosus, watching over its territory from a blue jasmine, is a tiny jumping spider barely 3 or 4 mm long.
Esta es una de mis fotos favoritas, hecha con un iPhone 13 mini y una lente casera para enfocar de cerca. Por eso hay tan poca profundidad de campo. Os aseguro que la foto no está editada. Esta Heliophanus tribolosus que vigila su territorio desde un jazmín azul es una pequeña araña saltarina de apenas 3 ó 4 mm.
Das ist eins meiner Lieblingsfotos, aufgenommen mit einem iPhone 13 mini und einer selbstgebastelten Nahlinse. Deshalb gibt’s so wenig Tiefenschärfe. Ich schwöre, das Bild ist nicht bearbeitet. The photo didn't look bad, but this time I took too many risks. The wasps didn't like it when I brought the iPhone within a few centimeters. For a few very long minutes I remained completely still surrounded by wasps flying around. None of them stung me.
