Rhytmisch stark. Zum Mitsingen gemacht. Außerdem sind Shanties das Nordeuropäische Pendant zum Blues. Atlantische Arbeiterlieder, von Menschen gesungen und erfunden, die oft unfreiwillig/ notgedrungen schuften mussten auf hoher See.
Eine Heritage, die es wert wåre, näher zu beleuchten.

haven't been able to keep up with this lately. I wish it was because I was having a good time, but it's not that.
This painting is wonderful. I think it instantly describes a safe and relaxed moment, maybe a feeling of comfortable community and a break from toil. They didn't have portable radios in those days, they must have been dancing to the music of the waves and the moonlight. Singing a favorite song, maybe even a "sea shanty" 😁 🌊 🌕 ⛵ 👯 ❤️
