CW: The FFS Project: question for native / fluent Cornish speakers about swearing
I am making a collection of sweary phrases for a grumpy but colourful art project. You can see some examples here

I have been offered the list below for Cornish. Should any other phrases be taken into consideration before I put them in a poll?

Question for speakers of #Celtic languages :BoostOK: : do you apply initial consonant mutations to non-Celtic names?
(My question is specifically about place names but I thought it'd be useful to know more generally as well)

Thinking about a #Kernewek term for "witcher" (as in The Witcher), I think I've arrived at gwragher. Gwragh means "witch" or "hag" (but specifically female), I'm inventing a (I think) reasonably plausible verb "gwragha" (literally "to witch" but more elegantly "to do what witches do"), and then applying the male agent ending "-er". Hence gwragher. I think this is the closest I can get to the Slavic term vedmak other than something clumsy like gourwragh

Reform UK are trying to ban the use of Cornish (and almost every other language used on the British Isles) in electoral contexts. This would effectively ban Cornish parties such as Mebyon Kernow (with Cornish-language names), hamper parties like the Green Party, and kill the (above board) Cornish devolution/independence movement. Not to mention parties in Alba, Tuaisceart Éirean, and Mannin, but I have less experience in those areas. Use of Cymraeg would still be allowed.
Anyway, the official statement of Parti Gwyrdh Kernow (the Cornish branch of the Green Party) is "Kewgh dhe gyjya, hwi ladron diskians" ("Fuck off, you ignorant crooks").

Your parents might not even know what you are talking about. But beware, we always thought my Da didn’t understand the #Gàidhlig until years later. We understood Mum was the only one we had to be careful around 😂

I can't share an image obviously but I've just found out that whichever database Believe in Scotland uses for postal addresses supports searching for street names in #Kernewek (Cornish) :neocat_surprised:
