Very encouraging news re #SafeStreets - and it's good to see the changes to state codes to permit reducing the speed limits. I hope that in addition to posting speed limit signs #sfmta will also adjust #SignalTiming near schools to reduce the incentive to speed on those streets.

#SFMTA, #SFDPW: yes we need bike racks. We also need to locate them so they don't interfere with the ramps needed for wheelchair boarding (or, for that matter, in the path of embarking/disembarking passengers of all mobility levels)
Can we keep the necessary bike infrastructure out of the bus stop area?

I support the speed cameras - AND I wish #SFMTA would start reporting more complete statistics than "average speed" - because it's not the average that's the problem - its the frequency and speed at the tail end of the distribution. The average driver, going close to the speed limit, is not the high risk. It's the small percentage of drivers who drive much faster, the small percentage of drivers whose driving genuinely is dangerous, that pose the problem. And the "average" tells us nothing about that.
And if we don;t understand that, we won't understand the real impact of safety.

Would that #SFMTA, #MayorLurie and the #SFBOS paid attention to information like this and moved to develop an integrated plan.
What we have is BOS Resolution ( and I appreciate the efforts of #SupervisorMelgar to get it passed) - but I fear the Mayor and SFMTA management don't really get it.

I’m eager to watch this! As someone from NYC, these stories from taxi drivers are all too common.
“This Sunday, the San Francisco Documentary Festival will show a short documentary created by Fonseca, “Taken For A Ride: How San Francisco Backstabbed a Generation of Cab Drivers”…
Fonseca has been a full-time cab driver for 31 years, and he received his medallion in 2009, a month before the SFMTA changed its process around receiving medallions...
At first, cabbies earned more than enough to cover the price of payments to the SFMTA, and drivers expected the value of their medallions to rise over time, making money when they eventually transferred ownership.
But just months later, Uber and Lyft were introduced to the city, and the cab driving industry tanked. Now, drivers are stuck with overvalued medallions.”

The #SFMTA has always been full of problems. But disproportionally targeting the Mission & Bayview for arbitrary enforcement is not acceptable.

#SanFrancisco Supervisors vote 9 - 2 to approve overtime funding for SFPD because #PublicSafety (even though SFPD overtime influenced by the timecard version of testilying) And SFPD Public Safety concerns don't seem to include traffic enforcement, even though hazardous driving killed more people than homicides last year. (Curious how the property damage and injuries compare)
#SFMTA slow walks traffic safety actions because ???? even though they have evidence from their own projects of specific actions that reduce collisions, injury and death.
I walk a lot - and I see near miss traffic incidents several times a week. I know what poses the biggest risks to me.

I love the bright colors covering this retired #SFMTA parking enforcement GO-4 Interceptor three-wheeled vehicle. I assume the #graffiti are by random taggers and artists but enjoyed by the owner. This #ArtCar frequently is parked in #HaightAshbury #SanFrancisco.

funny, I don't see any mention of places where someone has used grey paint over #SFMTA painted daylighting strips. I regularly walk by a couple of those.
And they happen to be at intersections where visibility is a potential issue... Putting safety at risk.

#SFMTA has daylighted the Carl & Clayton Streets intersection in #ColeValley #SanFrancisco with a fresh red curb.

After some feedback and hearings the SFMTA is making changes to the J Church:
"The agency will soon be making the following changes:
At Church and 28th streets, the existing 2-way stop sign will change to a 4-way stop sign, to help reduce vehicle collisions and improve safety.
"The existing Clipper Street stops will be moved to 26th Street and the 27th Street stops will be relocated to 28th Street.
"Once these changes take effect, the J Church will stop primarily at even numbered streets and the maximum spacing between stops on Church Street will be reduced from 1,590 feet to 1,170 feet. These approved changes aim to improve customer access and transit reliability along the corridor for J Church riders by providing a more intuitive and predictable pattern of Muni stops, and by paving the way for future Muni Forward transit reliability projects."
