#SDHIST is a #boardgame convention themed around historical games. So that includes Rock Hard 77, right? It's a game on being a wannabe rock star in the seventies designed by the bass player of The Runaways.

I taught it multiple times over the weekend. Coming last twice and winning once.

The #SDHIST #boardgame con is small yet it is packed with designers and publishers.

I managed to get the rulebook for Campaign Manager 2008 autographed by co-designer Jason Matthews.

Although I was there as part of the #WargameBootcamp I did get to play test an upcoming game for Revolution Games. This was Tankschlacht on the #WW1 battle of Cambrai in November 1917. I played the British side, of course. Half of my tanks broke down by the end of the first day but I had unleashed the cavalry who were in the vanguard by day 2!

The Hunt #boardgame at #SDHist
It's a sub-hour 2-player cat and mouse game on the Graf Spee surface raider early in WW2. Think of being sneaky with hidden movement while the plucky Royal Navy tries to corner the dastardly hun.

It was nice to meet the #boardgames designers Matthias and Engin. Yeah, I did have a rules question or two. They were happy to help. They even signed my game box. I taught the game every day of the con at the #WargameBootcamp

I think they are aiming for a December 2022-ish release. Rules review and final playtesting took place at the recent #SDHist con. Counters are printed, see pic.

An activity that sometimes blurs the line into work is teaching folks how to play board #wargames at the #TheWargameBootcamp. We regularly attend such California cons as #PacificonGameExpo & #SDHist.

The goal is to teach folks how to play #boardgames with a historical flavour aka #consim, #hexandcounter, and various types of board #wargames. Our audience could be newbies, #Grognard, or returnees to the #boardgame hobby. We aim to teach games in an entertaining & an informative manner.

My first cardboard crush were #wargames by such #boardgame publishers as SPI, AH, and GDW. I have dabbled with miniature & computer #wargaming but counters are 😍

The #SoCalWargamers group meets in Pasadena and uses a Google group to plot our shenanigans. We mostly play historical boardgame wargames aka #consim or #hexandcounter games.

I’m a regular attendee at the #GMTGames #WeekendAtTheWarehouse, #SDHist, & #PacificonGameExpo cons.
