All set up to do the Example of Play for Salerno 43. First time actually playing a ZOC Bond title and in reading the rules it seems fiddlier than it did watching play-throughs. And I’m not sure how the Floating Reserve works but maybe my questions will be answered in following the example.

Depressing that 186 people "liked" this and are OK with paying money for AI slop they could freely generate themselves.

Minor update for Arete: Battles of Alexander today, but I did tweak the VP requirements for the Pelium scenario so you'll have to update to the latest version (1.2.10) play online.
Arete is on iOS, Android, and Steam (Win and Mac).

Peloponnesian War. Still continuing on from the same game after the playbook example of play. Starting to “get it” now and as it’s flowing more, I’m really starting to love it. Just listened to Donald Kagan’s book and it’s really cool to see similar game events unfold.

1. You’re telling me your game has 0 errata. A bold statement. Congrats on your perfect game.
2. It implies that you know there are parts that might be confusing and you refuse to reinforce them.

I finally replaced the old, dull incandescent light bulbs over my gaming table with white LED bulbs, and the difference is like night and day. Literally. I can finally read rulebooks, counters and maps!!

I should've built this dev tool in Arete a long time ago. It's so much easier now to visualize and fine-tune the CPU's initial behavior. Each counter has an overall posture that can change based on the circumstances, but in some scenarios, like this one, I want to give them a starting "nudge".

Working on a scenario for the skirmish at Lyginus 335 BC. We have next to nothing about the conflict in the sources. Anything I do for this will be complete fiction (more than other battles I've included in Arete). Arrian gave a casualty count but we don't even know how many soldiers took part. 🧵 1/2

I just started playing The Lamps are Going Out. It’s an interesting game, though the combat seems too simplistic, especially at the start, depending purely on the luck of the dice.

First turn of Silver Bayonet campaign against the wife. She withstood my only reasonable attack at Plei Me and my other two attacks backfired. Bad and things will only get worse for me now as her US forces start entering the fray.

I told someone on BGG that I was interested in buying a game they were selling. I had to withdraw from my purchase for life reasons, so I apologised. I never heard back from him, but I felt guilty; it used to bug me when people backed out of buying a game I was selling, or never got back to me to complete the purchase. C'est la vie, sometimes.
