Finally got the #SpaceEmpires4X expansions from #gmtgames!

The good is that they look great, and I finally have them. All Good Things has just been released, but the other two have just been hard to find.

But...

Now got that unenviable decision of 'How much of this am I going to try to introduce at once?'

Thing is - this is primarily for #sologaming - and I don't know how many new rules will fit in my head at once.

I got my copy of #SpaceEmpires4X that I picked up from #gmtgames’ most recent P500 to the table late last night. Played the easy solo Doomsday Machine scenario to get the hang of things.

My main experiences with 4X have been digital (Civ, Endless Legend, and #Stellaris [soundtrack for the evening actually]), and while it’s not as extensive as those games in scope, Space Empires does a great job of bringing the 4X experience to the table in a fun and time-efficient manner.

A great day of #boardgames yesterday at @geekyteas in Burbank. Karl and I haven’t played the classic #ww1 CDG #boardgame Paths of Glory in a while. Unfortunately my Central Powers side lost by over extending in Russia. Karl was happy to watch me throw the game again as my flanks grew more tenuous. That makes it twice in a row I have done that. D'oh!

Playtest session, last Saturday in Burbank CA, of the new edition of A House Divided. Due to be published by #GMTGames

This was a fave strategic level US Civil War #boardgame for me in the 80/90s. This new edition continues that legacy but with some fresh twists.

Note: very early playtest graphics.

A new interesting game in GMT’s Irregular Conflicts Series is now in their P500 system! Here’s hoping that it gets a lot of orders quickly.

It’s always fun to walk the warehouse to see what goodies are stacked in neat rows. Such a welcoming event for all.

First F2F play of the sublime #boardgame Paths of Glory in absolute yonks. Paths of Glory aka #PoG is a 2-player card driven game on WW1 at the strategic level.

We played the historical scenario much favoured for tournament play. My opponent was new to PoG and I was rusty so we took it easy and had a competitive learning experience. You have not experienced PoG until you suffered Mandated Offenses and lost a few armies out of supply.

Okay, so thanks to preordering Plum Island Horror, I'm eligible to get two games in this year's sale. I'm grabbing Sekigahara, no idea what to go with for game two. Maybe another COIN game? Something from Command & Colors? Space Empires because it reminds me of the BBS game?

Any recommendations?

Das erste Mal #AGestOfRobinHood von #GMTGames am Tisch gespielt. Es ist wirklich cool und kann auch das #COIN Gefühl gut transportieren.
Der Sheriff war mir immer auf den Fersen und ich hatte durchaus Probleme durch die von ihm kontrollieren Gebiete zu schlüpfen und konnte keine Kutsche abfangen. Aber Robin Hood ist ihm dann doch immer wieder entwischt und so konnte dieser das Volk immer wieder dazu animieren, Widerstand zu leisten. Knapper Sieg nach 3 Balladen.

One #ReinerKnizia #boardgame that needs a reprint is Ivanhoe.
It's a great family friendly card playing - hand management - risk taking - card sequencing game. And is a great way to sharpen your, or your kids, quick mental arithmetic skills.

Connor learned the game last Thursday and he turned up for Tuesday game night with a used but great condition copy he had found online.

Played GMT's recent release Vijayanagara the other day. What a gem of a game; a refinement of the COIN formula and a beautiful and informative treatment of a subject (India c 1300-1400) unfamiliar to a lot of Western audiences. I cannot recommend this game enough. #boardgames #gmtgames #wargames
