The program is 75 minutes + Q&A and includes these key components:- Using your intuition
- Foundations of safety
- Recognizing tools of manipulation
- How to be an active bystander and a supportive ally
- The definition of consent
- How to support a survivor
- How to set boundaries that work for you
- Verbal de-escalation skills [NOT my strong point]
- The basics of physical self-defense in our Badass Basics
- Plus a review of improvised weapons, ground fighting, and how to sign up for a full-contact adrenaline based self-defense course near you!
Programs available In Person, Virtually, or Hybrid [I saw that there are virtual one-on-one sessions for $99. There also could be programs in your area. If you can't afford a session, there are some good resources on the website.]

So, when I was in my 30's back in the 1990's, I lived in Boston. Having been assaulted in high school (and having survived some other stuff that I won't get into here), I knew enough to wear long coats, always carry weapons (and know how to use them), and walk with a scowl on my face (not hard, since RBF is my default). I took risks -- walked alone, took shortcuts down alleyways -- but I always walked with a determined stride (not fast), and looked as though I was ready to kill someone (in my head, I was). I never got mugged or attacked -- unlike my friends who walked fast, were giggly or nervous, or wore revealing outfits. Very often, I was the one who escorted my friends (both male and female) home from the bar. It truly sucks that things have gotten worse for people (especially women and GBLTQ folks) instead of better. I've never had expectations of safety, but I can appreciate wanting a world where people can feel safe wherever they go. Until that happens, I will always look to defend those who are bullied and attacked. It's just who I am.

"It’s a response to an emboldened fringe of right-wing 'manosphere' influencers who have seized on Republican Donald Trump ’s presidential win to justify and amplify misogynistic derision and threats online. Many have appropriated a 1960s abortion rights rallying cry, declaring 'Your body, my choice' at women online and on college campuses.
"For many women, the words represent a worrying harbinger of what might lie ahead as some men perceive the election results as a rebuke of reproductive rights and women’s rights.
“'The fact that I feel like I have to carry around pepper spray like this is sad,' said Perez, a 19-year-old political science student in Wisconsin. 'Women want and deserve to feel safe.' [TBH, I've never felt 100% safe anywhere (except maybe in the woods), and always had items that could be used as weapons on hand. It sucks that things have gotten worse, not better, in my lifetime].
"Isabelle Frances-Wright, director of technology and society at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a think tank focusing on polarization and extremism, said she had seen a 'very large uptick in a number of types of misogynistic rhetoric immediately after the election,' including some “extremely violent misogyny.'"

Yeah, I don't recommend that visiting* foreigners* drive on our streets. It can get complicated.#Filipinos are nice and warm people but we do have some* corrupt authorities 👮 and crooks 🧟♂️. Add to that bad roads and some vague signage ↩️.
Become a local. Learn our ways. Before you drive. 🤪
Actually, just avoid unnecessary* complications... like #driving. ☝️😁
As for #riding 🚴, ride with a local friend. #SafetyInNumbers

As a native Floridian, I am deeply troubled that my state has becoming a leader of hate and fear. Keep that in mind for the 2024 presidential election.
Since Agile2023 is coming to FL, how can we make it highly visible to our LBGTQ+ colleagues who do attend that they ARE supported and there are other attendees they can be safe with? #safetyinnumbers
