  4. 🚨 > According to the report, car companies reserve the right to collect details including your name, age, race, weight, financial details, facial expressions, psychological trends and more. Kia's privacy policy, for example, suggests the company may even collect details about your "sex life" and general health.

  5. Unbelievable level of 🖕 🚶 in new #NHTSA pedestrian crash test which proposes 🛻 can *fail* and still get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ label

Today is last day to complain 📢

  6. @CrackedWindscreen I will say this much... no other outside groups have harmed #RoadwaySafety in the US as much as the #NHTSA and the Alliance for Automotive Innovation.

  7. No surprises here.

As I have stated multiple time on this site, over multiple months now - the #NHTSA is an absolutely horrible #auto regulator that, frankly, has done tremendous, lasted damage to US #RoadwaySafety.

  8. @mimsical But the immense complexity of the roadways are a given and they should be a given to #ADS developers and fleets.

System developers and fleets cannot unilaterally change that.

There is no technical value in trying to fix "fault" on any roadway participant (as the #NHTSA does, which is partly why the US #RoadwaySafety record is abysmal).

The obligations of systems developers are to validate their #SafetyCritical system in a selected physical environment - with its warts and all.

  9. I see former Secretary of Transportation #ElaineChao is back in the news given the #FAA troubles this morning.

Let me say this much... I do not think that Secretary #Buttigeig has done wonders for FAA reform and the #NHTSA (for automotive safety) is as ineffective as ever.

(And there is a hostile Congress to consider also.)

But, Secretary #Chao was *by far* the worst Secretary of Transportation in recent memory.

Secretary Chao set the #USDOT back years... maybe even a decade.

  10. This is an absolute tragedy for #RoadwaySafety, at a time when we can least afford it in the US.

Professor Missy Cummings is one of the foremost experts on automated systems, Human Factors and #SystemsSafety and her work at the #NHTSA was undercut from Day 1... undercut by multiple issues.

The NHTSA desperately needed her expertise during a time of very dangerous technological change in the auto industry.

    And that is gone now.

    Let me explain.
