A8. Snow was light enough to pedal in for about an hour, then accumulation made it more difficult.

Going to be much, much colder so probably hibernating as much as I can the next few days.

Bicycled 10k in just below freezing weather.

Was okay except for the wind. Had to use my gaiter for warmth.

The chargeable warm socks worked really well on the low setting. First time I've ever bicycled in below freezing where my toes stayed warm after I was done.

Saw a few ❄️ snowflakes.

Noticed the Root River was going almost as fast I was. Wasn't sure if they let up the dam in Lanesboro or there was just that much water from the rains.

Then I saw this sign. Yep, that much water.

Bicycled to Whalan to get my spouse a peach pie. Had apple with cinnamon ice cream for myself. Also got her walnut fudge from Whalan Depot.

About 50 people bicycling. 1 recumbent. 1 kid. About 8 electric bikes.

Air quality was much better today so bicycled for a nice 15 miles. I slept through the thunderstorms that tore up so many trees from mile marker 27 to mile marker 21 on the Root River Trail. Trail was cleared by locals and DNR of Minnesota really well. Feels good to start getting back to bicycling for pleasure after almost a month of traveling with only one bike share opportunity.

Peterson bathrooms finally open.

Rushford Depot still under construction until they get enough donations to complete it, so no bathrooms there yet.

Cold for me, warm for here. -7 C. The wind makes it like standing inside a freezer.

Complete opposite of the 44 C convection oven winds in SouthWest Oklahoma I was in last Summer.

I much prefer the in-between temperatures.

I think, maybe have the Ok hot winds here in Minnesota or the MN cold winds in Oklahoma. Then I remember tornados are made that way and definitely don't want those.

Too cold for me. -13.33 Celsius. Tried to do it anyway. Took me 5 hours to finally get warm inside after I got home. This has happened to me in the past in the SouthEast and the SouthWest plains areas no matter how many layers I've worn whenever it's lower than -7.77 C. I guess it takes time to adapt. The wind was brutal, even with wearing safety goggles.

First really cold day bicycling for me.
Update: Bicycled the 13 miles to #Lanesboro from #Rushford in what I thought was -7.77 C but with wind chill (as I found out later) was actually -12.77 C. I was fine between the trees, but open spaces with sun was where the cold, cold wind got me.

Face & head covering okay. Need better gloves and better socks.

Discovered all my water bottles had iced up. Oops. #Alabama cold isn't #Minnesota.

Thought 2 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️ bicyclists with very bright headlghts were coming around a curve. Coming pretty fast, so I stepped off the trail and was a bit annoyed that it was a 🚚 truck. Then had to adjust that reaction because while it was a truck, it was a truck clearing the trail of leaves. At least that's what it looked like it was and what I told myself.

I expected to hear some rifle shots. It is deer season, after all.
Bicycling along the trail I heard a couple of shots, didn't think much of it. Then I heard 6 shots and thought, 'That's a really tough deer or you have horrible aim'. Then 6 more. 'Now you're just wasting bullets'. Then so many more. I counted 61 in total, and there were probably more as I probably bicycled out of hearing range.

Must have been target practice.
