  1. Another #PeerReview done.

    Manuscript c3,000 words
    Review c2,300 words

    I do love Null results.*

Nevertheless, a good theoretical background is important (and ideally written down before the results are known).

It should be clear what an effect could look like.

  2. Interesting start to the week:

Paper rejected with the justification that the journal does not accept pre-registrations or manuscripts that are based on pre-registrations 🤔🤪

  3. Since there are many potential associations between 5 personality traits and 2 outcomes (in 2 possible directions), we found the #RegisteredReport approach in @pcirr useful for restricting hypothesis and analysis #DegreesOfFreedom. We received expert #PeerReview input that led us to adjust and improve our research plan. (3/3)

  8. We often assume that perceived risk determines compliance with protective measures. But both factors may vary over time, and what happens at one point may influence what happens at a later point. In a registered report that reached stage 2 approval this week (osf.io/jehm7), our team led by @sebastianbjorkheim.bsky.social examined this dynamic and bi-directional relationship over four time-points during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway.

A robust multiverse analysis did not show consistent relationships between risk and compliance at given measurement points, nor that risk at one time predicted future compliance, or vice versa.

  9. I am excited to be the @pcirr recommender (editor) for the #RegisteredReport "Assessing diversity and representativeness of big team science in psychology" by
Weibiao Liu, Sakshi Ghai, Flavio Azevedo, Patrick Forscher, and Hu Chuan-Peng

💕 I love that #BigTeamScience might be a tool that we can use to combat biases in academia!

Liu and colleagues will find out whether
    1) big team science samples are more diverse and more representative of the global population in terms of sex, age, education, and country distribution
    2) authors of big team science articles are more socioeconomically diverse than those of the traditional articles, and whether the socioeconomic diversity of the authors of the big team science articles is more representative of the global population

I'm looking forward to learning what they find out!

  10. I'm the recommender (editor) for a #RegisteredReport @pcirr on a relationship between 🎶 #music and 🗨️ #language in 26 languages across the globe 🌍

It's exciting to see my innovation of programmatic registered reports (1 Stage 1 can result in 2+ Stage 2s) take flight and be adapted by others! 🎉 Savage and colleagues push it to the max - there will be 27 Stages 2s from this one Stage 1 🤩

👏 I love how they took my innovation and innovated it even more by using it to make #BigTeamScience more #equitable. All co-authors are on the Stage 1, whereas each site will produce its own Stage 2, thus allowing many authors to move into the first and last author positions and receive the deserved credit for their contributions

So here is a call for more #love for replications! 🌏 🌎 🌍

Maybe you want to replicate an educational finding or publishing a replication you have in your #FileDrawer ?

Here is the chance: #ZBF #ZeitschriftFürBildungsforschung offers replications as #new type of paper (above and beyond using #RegisteredReport for replications):

  14. We just had a #RegisteredReport get an "in principle acceptance" from @peercommunityin! osf.io/p5sjb

This is my first first-authored RR, along with brilliant colleagues Eilin Erevik & Sebastian Bjørkheim. We are going to test whether #big5personality measures taken before the pandemic predict COVID-19 #RiskPerception and #HealthBehaviour during the pandemic.

I'm enthusiastic about the RR format, and I look forward to running the analysis and completing the report!

  19. 10) Have a #programmatic #RegisteredReport where the methods for the 2nd/3rd/4th/etc Stage 2 depend on how things went in the previous Stage 2? Now you can update your Stage 1 (after IPA) based on each Stage 2's results with our new innovation where #ProgrammaticRRs meet #IncrementalRegistrations! See an example by Castiglione, Brick, Esposito, & Bizzego: rr.peercommunityin.org/article

  20. Another @pcirr #innovation is live! @chrisdc77 combined our #Programmatic #RegisteredReport innovation with #IncrementalRegistrations to accommodate a Stage 1 whose #InPrincipleAcceptance will be updated as the Stage 2s come out and inform the next studies in this series of several Stage 2s by Castiglione, @CameronBrick, Esposito, & Bizzego

  21. My workday (and week!) is somewhat shortened by family commitments, but today I hope to submit my second peer review of a stage 1 #RegisteredReport, program a student project experiment, and prepare a #ReproducibiliTea meeting I'm hosting on Monday about #authorship, #contributorship and #collaboration. #AcademicChatter

  22. We set out to test intrapersonal coupling of PFC and RSA activity in both infants and adults during a "resting phase". However, we did not find significant coupling. Our first #registeredreport in #DCN: doi.org/10.1016/j.dcn.2022.101
