  4. Tor Star has a series of articles about the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) having enabled celebrated teacher Boris Berlin to abuse children for decades.

Lusiana Lukman came forward in February about her experience in 1985 at age 15. Others have raised their voices. Several say they were offered a different teacher when they complained at the time.

Berlin died in 2001. RCM effectively says it is "shocked, shocked" at the allegations.

  11. Has anybody experience with dot-file-management tools such as #chezmoi, #dotbot, #rcm, #vcsh, #yadm, bare git?

Naïve symlinks don't work for me any more.

Maybe I'll test chezmoi first as it looks promising without having compared it to others besides reading chezmoi.io/comparison-table/

Write me your experience and if you have tested multiple solutions, I'm very curious about your recommendation!

My requirements: I maintain 3 Debian stable computers (12 + 13). One of them has multiple users (business/private). I share lots of similar config files for shell tools as well as desktop environment (xfce, GNOME, KDE; I probably switch all to KDE). I most probably need a template mechanism to enable host-specific settings. Some config files may not be identical on different hosts, most are (besides host-specific settings). When tools write back to their config files, this should be handled well by the dotfile management tool. Sync via arbitrary sync tool (syncthing or git preferred).

  25. How do y'all manage your ? I just create manual folders with , but I'm looking for a better (less manual) solution.

  26. We are used to hearing reference to #MSM, meaning Main Stream #Media. I suggest we instead use RCM, meaning Ruling Class Media. This, I believe, more accurately describes the reality that all major/mainstream #news outlets are, in fact, owned and governed by #billionaires and large #corporations.

And as such, the RCM will never speak ill of one of their favorite sons unless doing so increases #profits. Thus, #Kissinger will be praised, just as he always has been, by the #RCM.

  27. RT @: This sounds promising A planar quadrupole device for transmitting and trapping ions in high vacuum #RCManalyticalsciencejournals.onli

  28. Really disappointed that not enough RCM members returned their ballot papers and we won't be striking! We need to keep the pressure on and protect the NHS

  29. @quinta un CDN fin dall'inizio? Ho ancora nelle orecchie l'incipit del laboratorio: "NON CONSUMATE LA BANDA DEL SERVER, SE NO CASCA TUTTO!" :) #rcm #unimi

Very on-topic for my mastodon instance, a quick runaround the library area at the Retro Computer Museum in Leicester. I spent a few hours today imaging floppy discs and CD-ROMS. #Retro #RCM #VintageComputers #NeedMoreShelves

  32. One of my PhD students is preparing to submit a paper examining #uncertainty in climate change impacts on streamflow resulting from #RCM variability versus parameter uncertainty in a #hydrology #model. So I've been getting pretty nerdy around various factors influencing uncertainty for the last few months. Fun to discover yet another.

  33. CW: Industrial Action, NHS

With #RCN joining #GMB #RCM #CSP #Unite (and others) having gained or are in the process of gaining their mandates for industrial action in the #NHS this is a good time to emphasise the importance of this action and the need for the potential of a #strike

Remember these are NOT militant unions on the whole. RCN has never gone on strike. CSP hardly ever does.
