  1. Breakers! And Why Not? with "Restless days". The funky three-piece have been touring with Transvision Vamp and fellow Brummies UB40, this is a pleasingly memorable toe-tapper of a song.

Quireboys with "7 o'clock", a simple twelve-bar blues song from a band with strong glam images - like Dogs D'Amour or Poison.

  5. Until yesterday I'd only known of the #Quireboys from their 1989 hit "7 O'clock." (Even then, I didn't know the band's name.) Turns out the lead singer is still doing the damn thing, with new bandmates he picked up over the years.

This song is good stuff, a bluesy composition with a few drops of churchy soul mixed in. The whole package makes me think of John #Kilzer's work, RIP.

  6. @billyjoebowers I have one of these that you reminded me to finally go look up. "7 O'clock" by a band that's called The #Quireboys. A bar I wasted way too much time in used to play it most nights at 7, and I'll hear it a few times a year on the classic rock station, but I never had any clue who it was.

They must have been a one-hit wonder in the US, as I don't recognize any of their other stuff. But they're still around (with the singer as the only original member).
