Migrated from Windows to Linux leaving a Brother P-Touch label printer behind? Your printer may still be useful and work in Linux despite no mfg Linux support.

My decade-old Brother PT-2700 working on Gentoo Linux with both the command-line ptouch-print utility and the graphical ptouch-rs [Rust] application. I also built ptouch-rs successfully on a Raspberry Pi 4 running Raspberry Pi OS "Trixie.".

Hat noch jemand von euch nen Brother P-touch E550W (oder nen ähnlichen Labeldrucker in vergleichbarem Format) und ne Empfehlung für ne alternative Tasche oder so, in die das Gerät mit seinem Netzteil passt, und vor allem ne ordentliche Menge an unterschiedlichen Tapes?

Der mitgelieferte Koffer ist zwar solide und nice, aber hat viel zu wenig Platz für unterschiedliche Bänder.

This is rather specific, but I feel #Mastodon is the right place for this kind of question..:

I have had a #brother #ptouch 7600 for 1.5 decades. Love it.

I need to print on shrink tube now, so I bought a Brother P-Touch E560BT.

And... The font is different! Even when I set it to Helsinki font, it looks different in width and height.

I printed dozens and dozens of tapes around the home. I need it to keep looking the same!

Any help or #retoot appreciated.

Ich bin ja etikettentechnisch total im #Brother-#PTouch-Ökosystem, aber das hier ist mir erst gestern aufgefallen: Brother hat irgendwann die Bänder geändert, statt TZ heißen sie jetzt TZe (sind angeblich ökologischer oder sowas). Allerdings gehen in den aktuellen Druckern (ich habe einen P700 und einen P300) nur noch die TZe-Bänder, TZ-Bänder lassen sich wegen einer Plastesäule nicht einlegen. Um meine alten TZ-Bänder leerzudrucken, muss ich also das alte Schlachtross 2430-PC im Einsatz lassen.

Hat jemand Interesse an Etiketten fuer #brother #ptouch DK-11208 (38x90), DK-11203 (17x87) und/oder DK-11204 (17x54)?

Der Etikettendrucker hier hat den Geist aufgegeben, und bevor wir die Etiketten nun auch entsorgen.... Ich habe allerdings keine Ahnung, wie alt die Pakete genau sind und ob der Kleber noch zuverlaessig ist.

ptouch-print --text "Brother PT-P700 Printer"

So many things come to mind with this. Is this P-Touch, or did they print it out on a laser printer? What kind of labels stick to a human skull? Can I get one with my callsign on it for application when I am gone? Did they label this in case the skull goes on walkabout? Kann dank eines Universal-Netzteils meinen #PTouch Etikettendrucker weiterverwenden.
Mit Batterien wollte er nicht mehr, ich plante schon den Gang ins #Repaircafe. Dass mit dem Netzteil alles wieder super läuft freut micht daher sehr.

So I bought a #Brother #PTouch label maker, and the most impressive thing is the corrugated cardboard packaging, which is made of 7 die-cut folded components, with almost no plastic at all.

@katzenberger @maartje if you find ANY hack to get an USB into those "economic" ptouch-printers (e.g. by adding an FTDI/RS232 or I2c)

@necrosis Was du gehört hast, stimmt im Prinzip. Deshalb drucke ich möglichst mehrere Etiketten mit dem kleinstmöglichen Abstand und hab dann nur vorne und hinten ein längeres Stück dran. #PTouch
