The answer is actually "no, #AI can't have a consciousness" but he dived into explaining it using the #philosophical, #ontological foundations of #quantummechanics and why the phenomenon of wave function collapse is behind it. Mindblowing, I dare say

  11. 台灣若固守硬體恐淪配角?AI4S大革命來襲,兩岸互補將是科研轉型的唯一解方

    徐作聖 (Joseph Z. Shyu) 2026-01-06 12:00:00 CST
    這場AI革命的核心,不僅在於算法和算力,更在於對知識結構與科研流程的本體化理解,也就是Ontological AI所帶來的「本位智能」。對兩岸而言,這既是挑戰,也是前所未有的歷史機遇。

  17. 150 (or so) Arguments for #Atheism

"A popular view in contemporary #analytic #philosophy of #religion is that while there are many arguments for #theism -- #cosmological, #ontological, and #teleological arguments; #moral arguments; arguments from #consciousness; etc. (...) -- there are only one or two arguments for atheism, viz., the problem of #evil and (more recently) the argument from #divine hiddenness.

This is a misconception. Here are well over 150"

  19. 📢#OutNow in #OA: 'A Relational Realist Vision for Education Policy and Practice', by Basem Adi.

This volume argues that relational realism can help us to make better #educational #policy that is more effective in practice. Basem Adi draws on critical realism to thoroughly re-examine fundamental assumptions about how #government #policymaking works, developing an #ontological basis from which to examine existing #government approaches and imagine an alternative approach based on a relational realist-informed critical #pedagogy.

Adi casts familiar issues in a new light by drawing on a less familiar theoretical and #metatheoretical tradition, offering a critique that can be productively engaged with by many #educational organizations to tackle the issues they face.

  22. "The system" doesn't exist outside our mindsets, logics, values. It's embedded in and reproduced by them.

So we can't possibly speak about #systemchange without speaking of change of what's fundamentally system's foundation.

Hence my interest in #ontological change. Just making that clear to myself too :)

  23. Are our religious #beliefs justifiable? In other words, which of our faith claims are #ontological claims? Which are subjective claims?
We must ask because we usually have faith that our beliefs are true, yet faith is not synonymous with #knowledge.
And now an even deeper question: How can anyone know that any of our claims about beliefs or knowledge are true? We feel like we have knowledge ("I know that such-and-such is true") but how did we come to know this?
