Tired of being constantly ‘nudged’? I know I am. Text, email, robocall reminders & notifications - from everyone all the time. Blame #BehavioralEconomics. It’s all about compliance engineering. Read the Wikipedia note:
“The first formulation of the term nudge and associated principles was developed in cybernetics by James Wilk before 1995 and described by Brunel University academic D. J. Stewart as "the art of the nudge". It also drew on methodological influences from clinical psychotherapy tracing back to Gregory Bateson... In this variant, a nudge is a microtargeted design geared toward a specific group of people, irrespective of the scale of intended intervention. In 2008, Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein's book Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness brought nudge theory to prominence. The authors refer to the influencing of behaviour without coercion as libertarian paternalism and the influencers as choice architects.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudge_theory?wprov=sfti1 #nudge #NudgeTheory #compliance

@marcoarment If having sewerage isn't enough incentive on its own, is there a way that people still using septic tanks could be officially designated as “Hillbillies”?

One of the ideas in behavioural psychology is #NudgeTheory, which is not from #Kahneman but from Richard Thaler (2017 Nobel Prize).
If someone who is going to choose is presented with possible choices in one way or another, it can be achieved that she/he choose what it's wanted.
The #Science behind this is quite poor. -
