  1. The Micro-Adjustment Tracker: A Practical Tool for Small, Honest Change

A micro-adjustment is not a goal. Goals have a finish line. A micro-adjustment is a small, deliberate shift tested across enough time to generate honest data. The tracker is what makes that information visible rather than letting it dissolve into general intention after three days.

  2. @peterdutoit In summary, heat stress makes people die, especially poor people, and the numbers are increasingly extreme because we won't #stopfossilfuels #behaviourchange #whenifnotnow

  3. 🤔 If you're wondering why your attempts to cultivate some new habits haven't stuck after the first few weeks of 2026, check out my blog post: "Why can't I stick to my habits?"

  5. @Sustainable2050 shall we start talking about #demandreduction? Radical #behaviourchange lies ahead, whatever balance of proactive and reactive any of us end up with...

  6. Saw the brilliant #DrMattWinning yesterday (climate policy professional, and comedian!):
When folk ask 'are we screwed?' they want to hear 'Yes' or 'No' - meaning either it's too late for them to do anything, or they don't need to bother. A better answer is 'That depends what you/we do about it' #behaviourchange #climateaction #climatebreakdown #letsdosomething

  7. Are you working on designing for #behaviourchange and #empowerment, in research or practice? We want to know what you think are the most important developments in this field and you can help by filling out this short questionnaire.

  8. @lyndamerry484 yet another 'technological' solution, when we just need to stop pumping it into the atmosphere. We need #behaviourChange.

  9. I'd love to read more about #addictivedesign and especially from a #gamedesign perspective and how it has been abused, especially given the accepted 'wisdom' around nudges and positive reinforcement, here is a #fediversefind open-research-europe.ec.europa. #BehaviourChange #games

  10. Shocking story - no mention of #ClimateAction or #behaviourchange as temple to #FossilCapital abandoned
"The city has seen some of the highest rates of climate migration of anywhere in the US as residents throw in the towel and move to higher ground"

  12. Talk to the Elephant: Design Learning for Behavior Change by Julie Dirksen, 2024

What do you do when your learners know what to do but still aren't doing it?
Training is created with the goal of changing learners' behaviors, but anyone who has created learning experiences knows that there's a big gap between knowing and doing.

  13. Hey #Bristol & #SouthWest UK folk who work in any form of #BehaviourChange and #SocialMarketing #communications....

Would you be interested in an informal monthly meetup in a cafe/pub/other space to chat, swap ideas, stories and "network"?

I'm pondering on starting something up in the city and trying to gauge interest...

If you're wondering, this isn't an idea solely for academics or those 100% engaged in #SocialGood agency work.

There are loads of folk who work to change behaviours - #NHS communicators, #LocalGovernment folk, #charity folk etc - who might not class themselves as 'behaviour change' types, but who nevertheless are working to create change.

Social Marketing practice has, at an academic level, often missed these practitioners out - so I want to change that!

Let me know what you think and maybe we can gather!

  14. @SecurityWriter @flargh @grammargirl

I am pretty sure it wasn't entirely disproved (I am a #socialmarketing/ #behaviourchange geek!). However the initial effects were over stated.

I think that the problem was that so many people/agencies saw this cheap thing which had been reported to work amazingly, and deployed it everywhere. Positive reporting bias held back opportunities to understand what does actually work.

Nudge is part of a blended strategy, a tool in the box etc. In terms of road safety (I worked in this area for 5 years), nudge needs to be backed up with engineering and enforcement otherwise it's not going to deliver the best results.

  15. Nations convene in Kenya to hammer out treaty on plastic pollution - another one-sided fight against #FossilCapital, or will they make binding agreements to stop making & using so much of the stuff? #behaviourchange #LifeOnEarth aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/13/
