Nokia 8110
(1996)The legendary "Banana Phone" that permanently cemented its place in pop culture. This premium business-class device became an instant global sensation after being featured as Neo's weapon of choice in the 1999 sci-fi masterpiece The Matrix.
Intel 386-based processor, 125-contact internal memory, monochrome graphic display with green backlight, mechanical sliding keypad cover, 900 mAh NiMH battery, dimensions 141x48x25mm, weight 151 g.
The 8110 was engineered with ergonomics in mind, its distinct curved body perfectly contoured to the user's face, bringing the microphone closer to the mouth. The sliding cover allowed users to answer calls with a satisfying snap. Although the spring-loaded automatic mechanism seen in the movie was a custom prop, the original 8110 remained an elite status symbol and a timeless icon of 90s design.

News that #WhatsApp will stop working on #KaiOS next year means our secondary/backup/travel/festival phone (a #Nokia8110) becomes less useful.
Not the biggest problem or frustration, but annoying nonetheless.

Out with the Nokia 8110 and the macro again. I love the fruit from brambles but as someone who bleeds easily from scratches I don't want them in my garden. I have a few nasty scars from when a bramble got hold of my leg a couple of years ago. Nope. Nope. Nope. #ShittyCameraChallenge #nokia8110

Brainwave! Remember Olloclip? I spent a fortune on getting them for my early iPhones, and other clip on lenses too. I found one and it sort of fits the 8110. Now that’s more like it. Bonus lens flare from the wonky clip-on!

The power button has failed on the Nokia N9 😭 so I’m using the bananaphone, the re-released Nokia 8110* for #ShittyCameraChallenge now. Now that really is a shitty camera. Also a shitty phone because it doesn’t show up when I connect it via USB (yes, yes it’s a data cable). So, I had to set up an email address on it, oh, the pain.
* I had the original too, it was the first phone I had that could access the web. Remember WAP, when it didn’t mean that other thing?

@veer66 have you seen news that it is possible to sign yourself software updates for #Nokia8110? There is aka cool way to enable adb with keyboard combination. My Nokia reports software update today, wonder if I apply this I hope I won't lose those possibilities
