@schrat Ich verwende die App Nextcloud Office und eine separate, selbstgehostete Collabora-Online-Instanz. Die App kann aber auch eine Collabora-Online-Instanz mitbringen. Ich habe Michael Meeks Vortrag zur aktuellen Entwicklung von Collabora Online auf dem #Nextcloudsummit25 gesehen und bin über die Entwicklung sehr begeistert. Nextcloud Managed Hosting bringt die Installation der App meist auch mit.

Review und Gedanken zum #OpenSource #Nextcloud Summit 2025 in München gestern... kritisch, hoffnungsvoll.
Es herrschte Einigkeit über die Notwendigkeit, das "Window of Opportunity" durch die politische Lage und die Angebote sind Konkurrenzfähig!
Für ein echtes #Movement in #DigitaleSouveränität braucht es noch mehr #ZukunftsLust und #EinfachMachen #nextcloudsummit25

A lot of people at the Nextcloud Summit.
According to the organisers, they went from 200 participants from last year to over 600 this year. There is a real sense of movement and motivation for a lot of people to move away from the US-based cloud services.
It’s also looking a lot like real alternatives are starting to appear. There’s certainly a convenience cost when moving from Google, for example, but that’s just something we have to accept to get a European momentum going.

BTW: Deutsche Telekom is operating a #Nextcloud installation with >3M active users.
So it's not just for home installations. (At the same time, if you have multiple million users, you probably also want enterprise support.)

1. Make adoption simple
Someone within your organization should be able to quickly set up a trial instance of the service. As simple as possible. I.e., just run a script somewhere; no need to set up a Kubernetes cluster first.
(It may be fine to have it run on Kubernetes later for scale, but your first trials should be simple.)
So you can get to the other points and convince/encourage/fascinate people.

Organisations don't make the switch from one cloud provider to another overnight.
In my experience, this applies to any cloud, whether it is user-facing cloud (aka "cloud storage" or "cloud office"; SaaS) nor backend ("cloud computing"; PaaS/IaaS).
